I have a '99 Outback with the ej25d engine that had a rod knock. I'm replacing it with an engine from a '96 Brighton, and it does not have an EGR setup. My friend and I are wondering if just swapping the ECUs will solve the issue of a potential Check Engine light, or should I go get a different intake manifold and swap everything from the outback over to this new engine.
Thanks

The ecu swap won't do anything for it. But there are some work around, the most complete one is found here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/top ... try1159612 (http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/topic/137829-using-a-non-egr-engine-in-subaru-with-egr-exhaust-gas-recirculation-valve/#entry1159612)

Have you done this before Shannon? Looks to me like a simple solution.
