I'm installing some aftermarket component speakers in my '99 Legacy GT, I ran the wires through the driver/pass doors and the rca's along pass side and the power along driver side. This morning i started my car and everything was fine until the ABS light came on after I lifted my foot off the clutch.
I drove to work, and noticed my turn signals aren't working, but the hazard lights do. I got to work and checked the fuses in the main fuse box under the hood and noticed one of the fuses (45a) was burnt. I mounted my amp fuse on top of the main fuse box and I did mess around with bolt that mounts the whole box and might have lifted that fuse out when I removed the bolt and lifted the whole fue box, which caused it to short.
I called Subaru they call it the "main fuse".. what the hell does that mean? If it was the main fuse, wouldn't it not allow my car to start? I hope this is the cause of my ABS light and turn signals because I can't think of anything else that happened, or any wires that would run through the doors that would cause this.
I've attached a picture of the fuse.

Fixed the ABS light problem. I replaced that fuse in the fuse box under the hood and the problem went away. I found that the turn signal fuse was also shorted out and replaced that fuse under the dash.
A second problem has arised, that 15amp fuse for the turn signal keeps frying. The fuse for the ABS light is good, any idea what would cause a turn signal fuse to go? Thirdly, when I was running my wires, I noticed that these plugs were d/c, i connected them.. no idea what they are for? Could someone tell me?

Update: After I replaced the fuse again, the left turn signal works but once I signal right is when the fuse goes. The only wires that I came in contact was when I was fishing through the doors for the speaker wires and when install my amp power cable that went through the firewall above the clutch pedal.. it really sucks to drive without having my turn signals :(

Sounds to me like you have a grounding issue.

Update: I gave up and took my car to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. They spent two whole days trying to diagnose the problem and finally figured it out.
When I lifted the fuse box in the engine bay, it shorted out the harness that goes back to the fuse box inside the car. The harness shorted out the entire fuse box inside the car so that has to be replaced. The engine fuse box is still good, but the harness has to be repaired.. I should have my car back tomorrow and the dealer said he'd work out a special price for me.. I'll find out the damage tomorrow :(

Usually fixing the problem isn't expensive... the time that it takes them to fix it is.
I had a short in my harness underneath the radiator... took them an hour and a half to find the problem, 15 min to fix it.
Cost me $420
avoid the stealership at all costs haha... but I guess sometimes you just gotta take it to them to insure the best repair for the Subys

Yeah no kidding. Cost to find leak on front of my engine... $160+ out of my pocket. Still haven't found it. About to suck it up and take the car to a repair facility if I can't solve it soon.

So, I have to vouch for the stealership today! They had my car since Monday and I just got it back today. The problem was, the harness from the engine fuse box shorted out the fuse box inside the car which caused all my electrical systems to go hay wire. The fuse box inside needed to be replaced and the harness in the engine needed to be repaired because of all the damage. I saw the condition of the wires and I'm lucky that my car didn't catch fire
It took them 13 hours labour. The bill came to $1043.60 CAN, but check out what they did for me. Rather than charging me the typical $90/hour labour rate, they only charged me $60/hour to help me out. Also, instead of installing a new fuse box for $250, they got me a used one for $125.
I know people say Dealerships are terrible, but these guys are simply phenomenal!
