View Full Version : Twin turbo GT-B won't start...

Well, my first real problem has finally surfaced, and of course in the deep freeze of winter. The GT-B wouldn't start today after work, and I'm suspecting a dead fuel pump. I've lately been having a rough idle, and once in a GREAT while, the car stumbles for just the blink of an eye upon acceleration when cold. I had my buddy listen in through the opened fuel filler neck and under the car numerous times, and he could not hear the fuel pump priming when I turned the key on. I have yet to bring the car into the shop, let it warm up (it's <20 degrees Fahrenheit here in MI), and try starting it again, but I'll do that tomorrow, as we were closing up today when this happened... I'll also pull the fuel line off and stick it in a cup and see if it pumps anything out.

First question - Is the fuel pump indeed supposed to prime for a few seconds at key-on?
Second question - Assuming the fuel pump is dead, what is the best possible fuel pump I should buy, being the JDM GT-B twin turbo? WRX pump, Legacy 2.5 pump, Walbro, etc???
Third question - I'm also going to replace the fuel filter while I'm at it, just because. What fuel filter fits the JDM GT-B?

I do realize I can just buy a new pump or filter at the parts store and compare it to what's on the car, but quite frankly I'm a bit lazy and would rather not waste that extra time and money if I can get some actual expertise from you guys first, plus I'm leaning towards an upgraded Walbro fuel pump.
Thanks a million, in advance!

Upgrade to a Walbro setup.

Your sending unit is the same style as 93~07 Impreza.

Pickup any fuel filter from a 02+ wrx. simple 2 line hoses and your done.

This is assuming you have a BG GT-B.
