alright guys, trying to see if anyone has done it... i saw the buddy of johann has put the big 00-04 wing on but im trying to find out if anyone has put the oem one on a 95-99. i have heard the mounting points/wing itself might be too wide.

can anyone confirm this? i dont mind shaving the finish a bit to make it not contact the QP when the trunk closes, and it will be going on a wingless trunk so bolts matching up arent an issue.

basically if anyone knows, i would love to, and if not, and anyone has said 3rd gen spoiler sitting around or on their car and could measure across from the outer bolts/holes widest point and post that i would be very thankful. really want to get one and mount it to my second trunk (NO im NOT drilling into the vinyl wrapped trunk), see how it looks.

thanks guys!

Man...I have been wanting to know this too... I really like the look of the Legacy Blitzen spoiler..or at least thats what they list it as on Ebay lol... But dont wanna spend the money if it wont. I have measured my 04 and my 99, and the trunk is wider on the 04, but that dont mean the spoiler wont fit.

I wanted to take the spoiler off my 04, but the GF put a quick stop to that. lol. Its her car so I gotta listen lol.

just measure from the widest point on your 04 wing and see if it would fit on the 99, or from the bolts on the inside under the trunk lid

I'll do that tomorrow...its a little chilly right now to be outside lol...But tomorrow at lunch I will.

I never thought about measuring the bolt holes..

I just went and did a quick measurement. On my 04 legacy, the widest mounting bolts, which is the two closest to the rear of the trunk, is 47 1/8".

On my 99, the widest mounting bolts, which are the two further from the back of the trunk is 46".

Those are just quick measurements, but going by those, I dont see how a 04 spoiler would fit. Unless you would just screw or bolt or something from the truck lid up into the spoiler mounting pad. Thats the only way I could see it working. If I could find another spoiler laying around for cheap I would try it.

well I've got a wingless so I'll have to drill either way, as long as the width of the trunk is wider than say 48.25" I should be golden, I'm cool with drilling through layers of bracing and such. I'll measure tomorrow. thanks for the info

i plan on going out and getting some pics to show the measurements I took, and the bolt holes..

I was going to do that this morning till I looked at the temp... at -54 right now...I am gonna wait a bit lol.

I have 2 trunks... definitely gonna have a winged trunk for when I'm feeling spunky... not gonna drill into the cf vinyl wrapped one...

I too also like the wingless look. But I also like the stock GT spoiler. I wish I had 2 trunk lids lol

I like it too, but with ny roof vane makes the car look so lacking in the back with no wing. but I'm also not a fan of the stock 99 wing, too small, I really like the 00-04 one. little. bigger with the lip on the back... I actually might end up buying another one and throwing an rs wing on it too, really actually like the look of that wing on my model. willing to spend the 150 bucks to try it out

See...I hate the wing on my 99. Its to low...like you said. I dont know if its stock or not though.

This is the 2.5 GT wing for the BD legacy that I put on my old silver car, and I was happy with that.

Its still a little short. But alot better than the low one that my car has on it.

the first one you showed actually looks like a stock impreza sedan wing. the second is a stock 2.5 gt wing with an added lip on top, kinda nice actually, but personally I really like the next gen wing. parts are like pennies here, there are so many available it's ridiculous, so getting another trunk to throw a different wing on is CHEAP and easy

Thawed out...a little. Been busy with work though and trying to get another Legacy running lol. If we dont get hit with this next storm I should be getting the rest of the pics by the end of the week. The pics of my car measurements aren't to bad. Its getting my GF's car around to get the pics of hers lol.

But we both have off this weekend. So I am going to try and sneak her spoiler off her car lol.

wanted to give you a bit of a major update!
I FOUND AN 00-04 GT WING! ERMUHGERD! campbell nelson subaru/nissan/audi/vw has a wrecking yard up in arlington Wa. well we went up there for parts for my friend's coupe and came across more of a gem than i could have asked for! found an 00-04 wing for 27 bucks! they are closing down so they are liquidating parts and i found that wing sitting on a table! great shape, couldnt believe my luck! well here it goes!

the spoiler set on my trunk

during painting, needs another coat of paint to even out the layers and then to have it cured under some warming lights and it will be good to go!
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/02/1902760_10203438804557733_334087708_n-1.jpg

and here are the pics of the drill holes for mounting. i am not using the front clip just the rear bolts
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/02/IMG_20140224_2147560981-1.jpg

had some "issues" with installing the wing by myself the first time and scraped the shit out of my trunk... oh well, it needed a respray and some more coats of clear really anyway... this summer i shall do that
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/02/IMG_20140224_2148200991-1.jpg

ill get pics tomorrow of it on and painted, needs another coat and clear like i said, its been rainy though so im not too excited about painting the clear... i dont have a heated space to do it, just some really warm shop lights. im considering setting those up in my storage unit and seeing if it would warm it up, then putting the wing in there to cure with them on and aimed at the wing. it worked when i painted my supertones... haha

all done and new wheels on!

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2013/03/IMG_20140225_164448942-1.jpg

after all this i am probably going to move it forward about an inch and a half, make the butt end of the spoiler mount sit where the trunk ends instead of where it does now... i really like it i just think i need to move it forward. oh well, whats 2 more holes in the decklid... ha ha haaa

my dirty girl all fitted

thanks! and you are spot on. i think the vane and the widebody help alot, this wing is pretty big... might look weird on a stock BD...
