big tires

I've search and still dont understand offsets and sizes and such.

so here's the deal. my co-workers offering me these 4 tires (i forgot the name :o ) for $150, fairly used up.

And they are 225/55R16. I'll still be using my same old 16'' rims on it, if it fits. so will they? or will they not fit on my rims?

If you've got a BD Legacy they won't fit. They will fit on the wheel, but they will rub the struts and fenders in the back, and probably the fenders and maybe bumper in the front.

Someone else will have to speak about the newer Legacies.

my cousin has that size on his GT and they rub like mad. too wide.

I'm running 225 tires and they will catch on the strut and the rear fender lip, also the front when turning over a bump. The only way I got round this on mine was to run coil overs and hard springs/damperning.... it was a little (OK a lot) more expensive to go this route than get the right tires in the first place, but I also wanted the adjust-ability in ride height. When I do the next color change I'll also be rolling the lip at the rear so I can run lower if I want.

I have 205/60 R16 on my 97 gt (the one who Losdiosdeverde was talking about) and they dont rub, i just have a bit of torque bind. 225/55 R16's would be quite wide for that application.

I'm not sure, but I checked that before I paid for the tranny flush (also flushed the fluid in the diffs). The guys at Tom Wood Subaru said something about a transmission transistor that needed to be replaced, that would further help reduce the shuddering in tight radius turns.
