Hey everyone, new here and thought I would start a build thread because im going to start adding some personal touches to the car. Gonna start looking for some springs and struts. From what I've heard some of the other subaru models have suspension parts that can be swapped or moded and swap, gonna start researching that.

Going to be lowering it.

i lowered my outback by swapping in used (60k) 2004 wrx wagon struts/springs. I dropped about 3 or 4 inches. i found this reduced the body roll ALOT.
i followed up by putting wrx rims and toyo proxes directional tires and the difference was ridiculous.
i hear strut tower bars (front and back) help too.

You can get the strut tower bars from ebay. You need one from a 95-01 Impreza for the front and 02-07 Impreza wagon for the rear. I had a rear bar in my wagon. I did help.

HOW DOES THIS NOT HIT THE RADIO?
It's half a centimeter from the drink holder (when popped out) in 1st, 3rd, or 5th. Love it though.

Changing the oil tomorrow, castrol syntec and bosch 3310 filter.
Also might be getting a set of springs/struts from a bd for free. This thing is a damn monster truck.
Desperately waiting to rip into this thing once my turbo saturn is together.

I have 03 WRX sedan struts all around, WRX front springs and Outback rear springs. Upgraded to steel sway bar end links as well. Corners well, can still feel a wiggle from the sidewall flex on the 215/60r16s but the rest was perfect for me.

Thank you! It is it's first winter (cali car).
Someone hit it in a parking lot recently (barely) and it is starting a spot of rust so I need to get that fender fixed or replace it. I'll see what my friends in the body shop at school think.
I will take a pic of the tiny hit tomorrow in the light.

Are the oem end links not steel? Tomorrow will be my first time putting her up on the lift.

I just KNEW that couldn't be a Midwestern car, haha. That would explain it. Keep up on washes and waxing and it'll stay in good condition, even in the land of snow and salt.
The factory end links are a hard rubber/plastic sort of material. Very flexible.

That shifter would blind me at night and I'd end up causing an accident. Your will to resist staring at it is stronger than mine. (Or you are as bad as I would be and you just haven't caused an accident yet lol). Looking forward to seeing this progress.

So my current turbo list goes :
Ver 7 sti spec C turbo subframe
02 wrx intercooler
Apexi safcii
MAYBE use my vf48 (seems over kill, was for my turbo saturn that is now on back burner)
Ebay 3inch wrx catback
Need to get oil/coolant lines
Want an el tyrbo header that will fit ej25d
Catless down pipe
Silicone turbo to intercooler coupler
Anyone see anything im missing?
Also do any of you have hands on experience with safcii on turbo subaru applications?

02-27-2015, 12:46 AM
I'm nearly positive you will need to swap on an STi oil pan to get a turbo EL header to fit the EJ25D.
How long until you are looking to get rid of the current CNT header? I'm interested in picking that up.

What size wheel are you looking for?
CaleDeRoo
03-08-2015, 02:00 PM
Best bang for your buck would probably be GD WRX wheels or first gen Scion TC wheels (center bore is 54.1 so you'll have to get them bored out to 56mm)
What is your ideal size?
dynonacht
03-08-2015, 02:02 PM
Ideally I'd like to upgrade wheel size but between wheel/tire keep the same actual size diameter as outback to keep speedo accurate.
dynonacht
03-08-2015, 02:03 PM
Wider is better too

03-08-2015, 02:12 PM
I ran the 05-06 LGT wheels with 225/35R17 or something like that my car and really liked them, them. The speedo was still pretty accurate, tires are still inexpensive because its one of the most common tires sizes, looked good, I paid 100 bucks, and they worked good at the track. Plus if you Dont have lowering springs they Don't make your car look like a monster truck. https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/03/ffbac3448c6a90a6cb3740d9ea5372fa-1.jpghttps://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/03/aee0162b07e1cca5bd9e929cc2683698-1.jpghttps://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/03/3f24f84af1f9c04ac5be19db2f6bf6ff-1.jpg

This is all fucked up.
Am I going to have to cut the side skirt off and redo the body filler on the fender? Someone before me obviously didn't know what the fuck they were doing here. There was also body filler in the door which has since cracked. None of this was disclosed to me when I bought the car.

Quick update, not enough time to go through and edit thread. Ej25d let go after 2 BAD water pumps that cooked the head gaskets. Gave it a proper 2nd gear pull death at redline. Hopefully picking up an ej251 bottom end to throw my spare 25d heads on. Just want to drive the car again.
