Sorry to beat a dead horse with this question but I haven't found the exact answer that I'm looking for. I have a set of HID's and I have the JDM projector housing headlight in my 98 legacy. I've heard projectors have a different cut than the HID projectors. But my question is, if I out the HID on my low beam(the projector one) will it melt my outer glass???? Ive heard mixed answers on that and that's what I'm most worried about

I've had HIDs in my projectors for the last few years, no problem.

The only issue with jdm lights is the cutoff is for RHD vehicles.

Rubie_25GT and Hinyo both have them. Just make sure you get good ones. You can PM them for input.

The HID's I have are Phillips bulbs and the ballast are from a new Acura. My cousin works at the local Honda plant so he got me a set. Wiring may be an issue and I have yet to tackle that issue but he has them on his 4wheeler and in the fog lights of his car and they work great.. I've wondered about splitting the headlight to put a LHD projector in them but I'm kind of scared to tackle that much of a project. Haha

It's worth it to take the time to pull out the housing and dremel down the beveling flat. It looks like this ______/------- which makes sense in a RHD market, but in the US it blinds other drivers and the output isn't as good as it could be. So make that flat and slap those HID's in there! 4300K or lower please :D Rice is made for eating, not for cars

Halogen projector reflector bowls are different than HID projector reflector bowls. If you decide to run HIDs in the halogen projectors, at least take the time to split them and correct the beam pattern for use on LHD roads. You shouldn't have any issues with 35w HIDs melting anything or damaging the chrome in the projector reflector bowls. I ran 35w HIDs in the projectors and 100w halogen bulbs in the high beams without any issues. They did have a considerable amount of glare, which is part of the reason I did a bi-xenon projector retrofit in some USDM lights.

FX-R projectors fit in the JDM lights, a fairly easy retrofit if you want to take it a little further.

Glare and cutoff comparison, JDM halogen projectors w/ HID vs bi-xenon projectors:
