I have just recently put a turbo on my 1996 subaru legacy ej22e 5MT motor. This is the set-up that I am running:

-IHI VF11 Turbo @ 5 PSI
-Custom up & Down pipe
- K&N intake cone filter to MAF to turbo
- WRX intercooler
- Water cooled
- Bosch BOV
- BLOX 12:1 FMU

The car runs fine under boost and when moving, however my idle surges from 300 RPM - 900 RPM. I am not sure if there is something that I am missing that can cause an idle surge or rough idle? The car was idling perfectly before boost. Is there something else I need to modify such as the MAF, MAP, IACV, O2 snesors?

Any advice is MUCH appreciated!

Thanks!

Did your TPS get knocked out of alignment? Cleaned your IACV? MAF?

You have a vacuum leak. That's 99% of idle problems.

I'd love to hear more about your build. Do you have a build thread?

Do you have your bov recirculated? My old wagon had the same issue, as soon as i got my bpv recirculated into my intake it idled fine. Throws off the maf reading i believe

Mine did the same exact thing when I boosted it. It ran perfect until boost then rolling idle. I'm still working on getting it 100% fixed but the two things that caused it the most for me was the IACV and the Purge Control Solenoid. Which IACV are you running right now? I had issues with the N/A one hitting my turbo and thats why I ended up swapping to the turbo one which caused a fair amount of issues on its own. I ened up using the turbo housing with the N/A motor for the best results with idle surge.
