budget summer rim options?

I have a stock 02 legacy L wagon and steelies came on the car. steels are great for winter but i'd like to know what my options are for reasonably priced rims are. and what should i go for on size offset and tire size. i run 205/60r/15's at the moment. so i'd like to know my options for the car. this is what the 15's look like (they are the winter tires) i do have 3 summer tires of the same size but they are not expensive.

if i could drop the rpm's i wouldn't mind that either but its not a priority.


so what would likely work for size and offset? and what would be a good size for the tires? i dont have any way of doing fender modifications so thats out too.

i am thinking of perhaps enkei SR6 (e45) in bronze? with 225/55/16's on it? they are slightly bigger and the tire only sticks out 5mm or 11.4mm more depending if the steelies are 7" or 6.5's

thats what i got the estimated tolerances from. but i wish i knew what my steelies were for offset and width.

you'll need 16x 6.5-7.5 and offset of 40-53 range bolt pattern 5x100 pretty much any wheels on those specs will fit hub bore iirc is 56.1mm

what would be a good tire size to go for? i was thinking 225 55 16 to get a bit more hwy mpg wile still droping the unsprung weight. is a 16lb rim and 225 55 16 lighter than a steel 15inch rim and a 205 60 r 15 tire?

It'd depend on the tire and rim. Check the weight combinations of the different tires/wheels you're looking at. I literally spent a good 20 hours looking at different combinations before finally deciding on 17x7, with 205-50's as my summer wheel set. I chose the lightest wheels and tires (within the other parameters like grip types and styles) I could afford.

if i got the kosei's i'd definately do something with the color. im not really a fan of grey on grey. just trying to figure out what to paint them. perhaps white? or maybe bronze?

I tried (and failed) to get some pictures of what the tolerances of my current wheel fitments is and if i would be able to go with a 225 50 17
so if you can make some sense of these please let me know your thoughts.

They were a little scuffed up, but for a little more money you can probably find wheels in better shape and still pay less than what it would cost for a full set of much lower quality aftermarket wheels in the $350-$450 range.

i am trying to find a light rim (sub 16lb) that is my main focus. i'll worry about budget when i actually have one.

So give us a budget and size wheel you're looking for. "sub 16lb" is easy for a 15", big $$ for 17", and so on and so forth...

a 16x7 et35 with 205 55 16 wouldent fit without fender rolling right?

^doubt it. Subaru's are usually on the +55 side of the offset so with the +35 your moving your wheels out 20mm

with a +35 offset, you'll need to add a fair amount of negative camber (at least -1*) and/or roll your fenders. That's assuming you'll still using 205 width, wider tires and you'll definitely need both.
