Got a '97 2.5 Legacy GT I just purchased two weeks ago.

Keeping the engine bay stock, at least for now.

But I'm looking into mufflers, visors, headlights and front bumpers.
Are there certain things you guys have done to your 2nd gens, things that almost every Legacy owner first does?
Aiming for a more aggressive front end, but still retain the luxury of the car overall.

the first thing i did was pull the front plate and get a jdm grill. if you dont like jdm grill idea you could always plastidip the chrome on your existing grill. that seems aggressive to me.

sweet ride. that engine bay looks like it was gone over with a q-tip!

Much appreciated! And I just took a look at your Outback, beautiful!
I really like that grille, I think I'll look into that!
I also was thinking about the SUS bumper, but plastidipping it, what do you think?

Sus bumper and outback bumper are the same thing, outbacks are easier to come by

Hella foglights and mudflaps is common

Look into JDM projector headlights and the 4zero1motorsports wiring harness connector sold on the site.

^This. Makes your car look mean, and, if modified correctly for LHD, helps you see much better at night without blinding oncoming traffic.

Here is my BD and my JDM BG...

For more details, look at the links in my sig...

The BD has a number of rare hard to find parts, but you can find them if your willing to look and sell your left nut. The only non-Subaru parts is my H&R spring on my BD... 98 2.5 GT... JDM GT-B Limited bumper, projectors and modded USDM SUS grill.

This is my JDM BG GT-B... Everything thing is the same as a sedan, till you get past the rear doors.
Standard JDM GT-B front bumper, L7 JDM grill, and projectors...

The first parts I ever got were the Projector head lights, side turn signals, JDM tail lights, and the SUS grill. All those parts are pretty affordable. I think I have most of the prices listed in my build threads.

first thing i'd go for is easy, a bigger rear sway bar for better handling
