I have just recently bought a 1995 subaru legacy brighton wagon that is a 5 speed manual. I have driven the car enough to learn the engine and now i would like to be able to see the rpms, and i was wondering that if I were to get an instrument cluster from another Wagon with the tach. would the wires match up? and also would the brighton have hook ups for the tach? basically would i just be able to swap it with ease or will i have to do some wiring? and will it matter if the new instrument cluster was off a 2.5 instead of the 2.2 i have now? Thanks all for looking at this and reading through.

You can swap the tach assembly out of any of the 95-99 clusters. If you're looking to swap completely 95 and 96 will be a direct swap, 97-99 will require some wiring mods. There is a thread in the DIY section about it.
