I've done some work to it so far but have been so busy I haven't really archived any of it so IIRC the first thing I did was dye the carpet; I couldn't deal with the mangy smell that came from it nor the death gray that it was colored. I yanked it out and cleaned everything up.. ffter a steam clean and spray of dye it turned out pretty well. It looks muuuch darker in person.

Should probably vacuum but meh I will eventually

Also re did the door panels..

Next thing was some DIY clear corners. I need to re bake them and get them settled in the frame a little better, but over all I'm satisfied. I know there's a link for the chrome coated ambers somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it :smt015 any help? Also did a DIY Grille that turned out somewhat shitty.. I had never worked with bondo before and didn't quite sand enough before paint. Learn from mistakes I guess

Oh and did I mention.. she only has 75k original miles? I'm the second owner and bought it from a family of four with a maintenance receipt stack 3 inches thick.. I cant find under rust either, knock on wood

The car looks great. Lucky to find one with such low miles, good condition, and no rust! I like the grill. Can you post a write up or link to one you used? Also.. can you take a few pics of the front end from farther away? I like it but want to get a better idea of how it looks.

Gut the inside of the grille and then use some bondo to repair teh main shell. Make sure everything is uniform and to your liking before painting it because I taped over the outside chrome ring and plastidipped the inside all black figuring the plastidip would even out the imperfections in the bondo. I won't make that mistake again. After that I just went to the local hardware store and bought 3 ft of rain gutter mesh and found a couple spots to zip tie it on. I've seen a few write ups but dont see them anywhere in the DIY.. I tried to take the cheapest and easiest route and it wound up looking like s$%& from less than 5 feet away. Ill see about getting pictures tomorrow once it's light out and hopefully stops raining

Nice wagon. My 98 is the same color. You should get some Outback sway bars. They are a cheap option and greatly improve the handling.

Very nice find, man. Don't sweat the dent, I'd bet that you (like most of us other 2nd-gen owners) want a GT/Outback scooped hood anyways. That dent's just there to encourage you.

Love the door card inserts, BTW.

Funny story. My wagon is the same blue and the scoopless hood had a nice dent in it. I watched a squirrel fall out of a tree onto the hood when I was in college. So fast forward a few years and I found a nice blue Outback at a pick and pull with scooped hood. Of course it had a dent in the exact same place. I bought it anyway since I could not find blue scooped hoods at the time.

I'm actually looking for a outback rear sway/gt hood/outback front bumper but not having the best luck sourcing them. Pick n pull has been doing me dirty lately :(

Also used a clay bar for the first time and I think I've fallen in love. Even re kneading the clay the whole bar was brown after just the hood. Gat damn need to get me some cut/polish now.

I definitely could have used that grounded feel yesterday.. Was on a cruise, pushed it a little too hard and ended up sliding through some gravel into a gate. Will post pics soon.

Alright so I've decided to get this thing back on the road. After taking the bumper off and really looking into all the damage, it's not as bad as it seems. The right hand side frame rail is bent ever so slightly, the left side of the car is chewed up, and the front sway bar is snapped in half. That being said, I'm just going to leave the frame rail and think of it as a battle scar. The left side, who knows at this point.. will probably find some replacement parts over the next few weeks as I hit pick n pull. The sway bar though, I can't quite make out whether or not it will fit, but I found an 02-07 impreza wagon pair of front/rear bars and don't want to jump the gun on something I can't even use. Anyone know for sure?

Soooo it's been a while since I've had the time to do much to the legacy but I've at least repaired all of the body damage and given it a facelift. shout out to r3v3nge, his subie graveyard, and expertise. thanks to him the lagacy is getting much closer to where i wanted it in the first place. it's not pretty but it's a step in the right direction. shout out to pick and pull for having way way overpriced parts as well! here is how she sits currently;

steady as she goes

updates are:
forester steelies
outback front subframe and sway bar
outback bumper/fogs
outback grill
replaced left side fender, both doors, and mirror
replaced bumper beam/mount
new windshield
oem tweeters
used a cheap dynamat alternative called peel n seal for the doors that actually worked pretty well, but im skeptical on how it will last in hot/cold conditions

Good to see your car's getting work done. I know it's not as pretty as before, but I can see the progress. And I'm grouchy, because I think you have more colors of panels than I do... Gotta fix my doors to remedy that problem...

At least your panels are similar in color! i thought the different shades would grow on me... they haven't

Actually, I've got a green hood, that's not shown in my avatar. It's the only part of the car that's the right color, LOL.
