View Full Version : 16" rims on 2008 Legacy 3.0R??
Sup All,
I was wondering if 16" rims would fit on my 2008 Legacy 3.0R (I'd probably look for 04-05 wrx rims). I did some searches on google/nasoic/legacygt/etc and I'm getting mixed responses. I should mention I have StopTech Cryo-SportStop rotors in the front and StopTech SportStop in the rear - both of which are smaller than the OEM rotors. Thanks for any advice!
Btw, reason being these potholes in NJ are killing my tires and wallet (1 flat & 1 bubble in 2 weeks -__-;;) figured it maybe worth investing in winter wheels.

Depends on your Caliper size. Your stock rotors in the front should have been 316mm (according to NAPA).

316x30mm
This uses a two piston sliding caliper similar to the other 2-pots, although brackets and calipers aren't compatible between other 2-pots. 17s are required with them.
My 06 Outback 3.0R has smaller rotors.
295x25.5mm
This is the WRX front rotor. It uses a two piston sliding front caliper or the Subaru fixed 4-pot. The sliding caliper, bracket, and pad were changed in 03 and that's something you need to be aware of when upgrading from RS brakes or purchasing pads. The 4-pots are only on the 06-07 WRX in the US, though they were on many older non-US STis and WRXes (the black calipers with Subaru across them). Generally 16" wheels are required with these brakes but there are some 15" wheels out there that work. Also 16x6.5 Subaru wheels do not clear 4-pots.

You should have the same brakes as an 05-09 Legacy GT. I am pretty sure you have to run at least a 17 in wheel.

You probably have run either 17s or some crazy 16 with tons of clearance might work.
I wouldn't trust NAPA for brake sizing as they generally show all sizes for the entire generation when you use their parts filter. I had some trouble with them giving me the wrong size rotors for a '00 Legacy that had the smaller front brakes, what they gave me was for '02-04. Advance and Autozone don't make that distinction either. It's best to actually measure rotors and check against other model OEM part numbers if you can.
