There is an oil galley on the back of the passenger side head that makes for a much cleaner and less leak prone oil feed

Ok, this hasn't really been covered in this thread yet, and I've gotten a few PM's about it. Here's a few quick pics and an explanation of how to set the NA heads up for a turbo.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/06/25Dhead2a-1.jpg
It's been almost 3 years since I did this, so bear with me. I believe the Adapter for the Oil feed is a 12x1.25mm to -4 AN fitting.
For the water line, I drilled and tapped it for a 1/4" NPT fitting. I then used a (I believe) -6AN adapter.
For the Oil return, I just bought the closest size drill bit I could get to matching the oil return tube off the 22t heads. In hind site, I should have used a larger tap/fitting and used an AN line here too, I still may rework it to do just that.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/06/25Dhead-1.jpg
Feel free to quote/ edit this if you have more details on the sizes, like I said, it's been quite a while since I did this.

Thanks for the idea man!! i was think about it but i had all the fittings for the oil press sensor so decided to slap it on, but its a tight fit to the altenator and think im going swap over to the rear gallery
Beauchemin
07-07-2014, 08:14 PM
grayguy was spot on with the fitting size, 12x1.25mm going in the back of the head and my oil line is -4an fittings so i did order myself a fitting and will be swapping the oil feed over :smt023
Some parts did arrive though!!

Its coming along! Are you gonna use a turbo subframe or notch the stock one?
Beauchemin
07-13-2014, 07:44 PM
Thanks man,
I actually have custom up/down pipes for it that clear the stock subframe and let out where the stock cat would
Here are a couple shots from my old obw

Why not just get a turbo subframe? That's what I did on my project, so I could run a factory turbo exhaust manifold and get the classic boxer burble. Can also slap on a wrx k-brace when you do that too.
Also, do the USDM DOHC heads not get the blanking bolt on the back of the right head? You just whip it out, and put a factory banjo bolt and oil feed like on, done.
wentz912
07-14-2014, 12:22 AM
You CAN use a WRX crossmember you know, then your UP and DP can be off the shelf parts.
Yeah, but if he's already got the custom pipes, why do all the extra work?
Beauchemin
07-14-2014, 06:46 PM
I was going to swap in a legacy ss crossmember but i already have the custom pipes sitting in my garage from a old build, right now dont have the funds for the crossmember and want to replace the rack while im down there. For now ill be running the custom pipes with my oil feed coming off the back of the pass side head with a 12x1.25mm to -4an adapter
In the future she will get a new rack and a turbo crossmember (thank you wentz912, didnt know i could use one off a wrx, will be easier to find a wrx member than the leggy ss member), as i will want the ability to swap in upgraded exhaust parts with ease, and yes get the scooobie brumble
wentz912
07-16-2014, 01:19 AM
It's not a "bolt on" fitment using the WRX crossmember, so to speak. But from the best of my understanding it is JUST that the lower control arm bushings on the WRX are "wider" (IE the tabs they go between are farther apart). So, one is left with a few options. First, shim the Legacy bits with washers or the like. Second, put WRX bushings in the Legacy LCA's. Third, put wrx LCA's on along with the crossmember.

I had a little fun a mocked it up on the stand, just need my clutch and flywheel to come in

It is very easy to swap, air bag clip was the trickiest for me haha, you do have to change over the cruse controls. Otherwise it is just about bolt on, here is a great diy link

Ok so it's been a while since I've been on but I have made a little progress on the legacy. The clutch couldn't handle the boost anymore (Why I put a stock clutch in...idk) and the motor started to leak a little oil so out she came
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/12/image_8-1.jpg
The cheapo eBay header (that I had to stretch to fit) ended up rubbing against a line in my rack so much it made a hole and started to leak fluid. So grabbed a rack and decided to swap to the legacy ss subframe

Yeah I've seen some mixed on the blue belt, it's said that the blue wears off onto the rollers and throws off timing. I will check the belt/rollers/timing every few thousand miles and see how it holds up, if the blue does indeed start to wear onto the rollers I'll swap out for a oem belt, just couldn't pass up the deal I got on this one
I'll deff update on how the belt holds up, thanks for the heads up though

Ok been a while and car has been neglecting,
My wife gave birth to my son so he get a majority of my time
As well as started working for a new company
I now cruse around in this killer all day

But as today is Father's Day I got the day off of all duties so decided to give the car a little love
I was able to sort out all the the breather lines/iacv/pcv and such
Bolt the intake manifold down
Wrapped (yes I did run out at the end of the header -__-) the headers and up pipe and bolt them down and get the support brackets bolted down
Got the timing belt on
Situated all the vacuum lines, plugs and wires in and other small things

I know nothing about tuning haha
I have wired in the perfect power smt6 piggyback
I can not get the car going :/
It will idle very rough and rev to about 3k then sounds like it's in launch control or something just kicks back and backfires
I have been looking on the webs for info but have got nowhere
Engine set up is
Ej255 block
Ej25d heads and manifold
Sti yellow injectors
Vf43
Any help or a push in the right direction would be greatly appreciated
