Hey sli im new to the legacy family. But I just purchased my first subie, its a 98 legacy 2.5gt wagon. I bought it for 600 with a blown head took it to a mechanic had him replace every part that was bad or might go bad soon now I basically have a brand new engie and im only at about 2,000. But I have many plans for the car eventually I will do any sti engine swap but not for a little while. The first thing im planning is lowering and wheels. But im not sure if I should buy coilover or take suspsion out of an sti or wrx wagon. Any good opionions on how to lower your legacy?

Nice deal.

Stock WRX suspension won't actually drop your car much. But I'm not a huge fan of coilovers, as the ride can be jarring. I'd go with a set of adjustable WRX struts and some lowering springs (I think H&R makes a good set.)

Get wrx (02-07) take offs (full strut/spring/hat assembly), then get a lowering spring for that year wrx you got for from. The rear on the 02-03 have a different rear springs which tapers up.
