Hello everyone. I'm new from the Boise ID area. I do a lot of mechanics on the side and love subarus. I currently own 4 legacy sedans. Two 97 GTs, one 97 L and one 90 legacy that I just picked up (no pic yet).
This my DD. It's a 1997 Legacy 2.5GT 5MT. It has a TWM short shifter and weighted shift knob, thrush weld muffler, 2.2 impreza intake (to eliminate the torque box), 06 WRX struts and springs lowered 1.5" in the front to level her out, and 04 STI 17" Gold BBS wheels.

This is my wife's DD. 1997 Legacy 2.5GT 4EAT. Leather and premium sound package. It's bone stock other than the 4EAT "power mode" toggle switch I installed under the dash.

This is my beater. It's a 1997 Legacy 2.2 L 5MT. I got it with a spun bearing and I put a newer 2.2 motor in it with much less miles. It's not pretty, but it runs like it's new.

Welcome. I am liking the 97. What is the power mode toggle switch on the wife's car?

Thanks. The power mode is a mod you can add that puts your tranny into a performance shift mode. It was included on some older jdm models and svxs. The tcu is the same till 98 so you can just ground one of the pins and it goes into power mode

So it won't work on a 98 then?

It will I believe. They changed in 99 iirc

There is still a power mode mod even if you have a phase 2 tcu, it's just not the same as phase 1.
