2004 USDM Keyless pinout

So today I did a little exploratory while researching dome light mod. I discovered that wire colors for my 2004 Legacy - L-S 35th anniversary. does not match the wiring diagram.

I have a few 2003-2005 diagrams that I have checked.

2004 in other markets changed to a _Body integration unit_ and the Keyless module was redudce to 8 pins. Mine has 18pins.[/*:m:21kf8bi1]

Your car is neither a 2004 General Market (which is 4th gen), or a 1998-2003 Liberty.. so why use those manuals? The 3rd gen Liberty is much more like a JDM car than a USDM car.

You need to look for either a 2003 or 2004 US market service manual. I know there is one on jdmfsm.info that is correct for the 2004 USDM cars. What is it that you are looking to do with your keyless entry?

It's a bit more complicated than what's necessary. I am going to cut the dome light output. I am going to run a pair of leads to the steering column. I am going to wire a dome defeat switch on the dash. I usually travel with dome in OFF position for loading. When I go to the car at night, a dash switch would be more convenient than reaching up to the dome fixture, while leaning in.


I plan on finding the mating male and female connectors, the contacts fit in. I'll use it to terminate the park/tails to the park/tail relays. The always hot will have other uses. This frees up the column switch.

Thanks so much for helping me narrow it down. I have been seeing similar conflicts in information.

I found out the RKE connector is a a yazaki 7283-8180. It's a 91 series hybrid, using A type and NS type contacts.

I think the park switch is a sumitomo Ts 2.3mm ii (090II).
I may use the the lingering extra Hot wire for use with power socket. Having that as hot in run and accessory is a bit inconvenient.

Thanks to rkrenicki for the heads up to the diagram discrepancy. I found that with a cursory view of the keyless diagrams that most of the Pinout colors matches mine.
