98legwag beat me to it.. The 818 is a Subaru powered Mid-engine RWD kit car, designed for the WRX and STI driveline to be installed. There are a few people who have done H6's and N/A H4s in them as well.

They essentially turn the drivetrain into a FWD car, but since it is mounted in the middle.. it drives the rear wheels. This picture is of the back of the car, the only thing that would normally be here is the bumper.

No. What I mean is a Subaru body with a MR conversion. Think about it

Not mid engined, but a shortened Legacy chassis with a Mini body dropped on top.

^we need a link to that build.
I know a group of guys that started building a mid engine GC Wagon using the 2.2/fwd tranny out of a 1st Gen legacy, they used the front suspension/crossmember in the rear... I'm not sure what ever became of it though.

And the rear axles
What's the drive for the keeping the soobie platform? There are many other body types that would make for better (easier) projects.

I have a friend of mine that did a hypothetical setup for using an EJ motor, mid-mounted in an S13. He never finished it, but would have been pretty interesting.
A mid-motor Subaru I dont think would work too well. The balance would be off like a mofo.

Not much of a build thread, he spends his time building and driving by the looks.

Mmm I think if u could swap the positions of the fast tank and engine u can still maintain a somewhat perfect balance. Granted I'd make a bigger fuel cell under the hood. And a fat H6 in the back seat.
