Hello everyone! My name is Elijah, I live in Portland Oreogn, USA, and I just got me a new(1993, so not very new) subary legacy L... in RHD! It's a legacy L, AWD, right hand drive. I bought it from a postal worker who had gotten a new jeep for her route. It's a little rough around the edges but I love it. The one big thing is that the speedometer doesn't work. The woman's husband had replaced the trans-axle and rear differential with those of a 1995 RHD legacy. He said that it's probably that the 95 tranny spins the speedo cable the other direction... I'm looking into it. It needed a CV axle on the left front but that wasn't too bad for me and my grandfather to replace. The tires were god awful, so i got a set of 90000 Michelin tires today. all in all im in it about 1600 dollars. I'm super happy with it so far, just need to get to the bottom of this speedometer issue.

That is a sweet find. Is the first gen speedo cable driven? Because the 2nd gen (the 1995 tranny) is not for sure.

Does the odometer work? Or is it dead too?

I do not know if the odo works.. I'll have to check next time we drive it around. The 93 speedo is cable driven... And was plugged/screwed into the tranny which tells me that Maybe it's not from a 95, maybe it came with the 94 motor that's in it. I'm not complaining it runs great and shifts super smooth. The guy sent it with another cluster with an electric sender.. It's a big mess at the moment. I also found out today that the horn doesn't work :| that shouldn't be too big of a deal though.

Thanks for the help!

Also, I looked down the hole where the speed cable was screwed in while my grandpa moved the car a little, and it was not spinning... Not in the slightest. I think it's bad speedo gears. Both drive and driven, which is gonna be a pain in the ass to replace...
