So I took my car out for a weekend cruise sunday and decided it would be a good time to clear all the codes and see what needs to get fixed after the motor swap. About halfway through my drive my car started to die every time that I came to a stop. I have had rolling idle since I turboed the car but haven't really looking into it since it hasn't been dying and has been running perfect aside from that. Now anytime I roll to a stop or push in the clutch the car will drop RPMs and either die or just barely catch itself at about 100 rpms and then roll between 250 and 750. It will do this for about 15 to 30 seconds before it levels out and then it will idle just fine. Car runs just fine in the mornings on startups and doesn't have any issues when its cold. Its throwing a P0443 (Evaporative Emission System Purge Control Valve Circuit) and I don't really know where to go from here on this. I checked all the vacuum lines a couple of times last night and I don't have any leaks that I can see. What should I be checking next?

why would you check vacuum lines when the code refers to an electrical issue?

Because I'm new to all this check engine code stuff. Most of my other wheels are OBDI or older.

According to Baddog:
"Check for a blue clip under the intake manifold. There is an Evap connector under there. Check all your connections.Passenger side. "

No blue clip on mine. Its grey. And its plugged into the purge solenoid. But it is connected. Checked all the evap connections last night and didn't see any issues with any of them.

Ok, read through this and see if you get the "wooshing" sound from the gas tank after a period of driving. You may also want to test the switch itself:

dont worry about it, this is my first obd2 vehicle in 15 years of driving.

is it possible your purge valve is bad, and the iacv assumes its open letting charcoal canister vapors in when it really isnt?

thats my guess, but if I were you i'd check the resistance on the purge solenoid (if you even have one).

Thats what my guess is. I have had this issue to a lesser extent since I turboed the car. And I had to swap IACV at the time so I thinking that I may possibly need a new IACV as well. Yeah, I have a purge solenoid, its tricky to get to with the turbo in the way though. I may dig into it this weekend and just replace both parts and see how things go after that. Thanks for the help

My soobie threw this code on and off for a couple of years - never did quite figure it out, but it didn't give me any trouble and clearing it usually kept it away for a month or two

So I finally got a chance to dig into everything last night. Swapped the IACV motor back to my N/A one and that did clean up the idle a bit. Pulled the plug on the purge solenoid and measured resistance across it. Its reading open so that's my problem. I just have to make a junkyard run to get a new one and then pull the turbo to replace it. Thanks for the help everyone. I'll report back after its replaced to verify it solved my problem.

Great! Hope the new switch fixes the issue.

I built a new BOV flange for a buddies tleg last night and slapped it on my car to make sure it didn't have any leaks before I gave it to him. Come to find out my valve was leaking at idle and thats what was causing my idle issues. Car runs perfect now. So I pulled the trigger on a HKS last night and will get it installed asap. The Purge Valve still needs to get replaced but at least I know it isn't the cause of my idle issues now.
