Lowering a GEN 1 Wagon?

I am looking to get some lowering springs for my 93 wagon, looking primarily at the H&R springs, I've read nothing but good things.. other than it will wear your shocks really fast. I just bought the car, and the guy who was selling it told me that the shocks are new, I believe him, it rides super smooth after replacing the front left CV axle, but I'm 99% sure he replaced them with OEM parts. Will these springs still wear new shocks fast or is it just like a "make bad things worse" type of deal?
