recommended spare parts for enduro racing 1990 Legacy 2.2

We hope to do chump and lemons with our newly acquired Legacy. What parts would you guys recommend we carry at least 1 spare of based on it being a somewhat common failure. (for instance in my miata the cam shaft position sensor..)

Assuming you're 100% stock:

swaybar endlinks
swaybar mounts (rear)
knock sensor(s)


Honestly that's all I can think of. The EJ22 is upheld as Subarus most reliable motor and I can't think of a "common failure" point for it that I see frequently.

Subaru swaybar endlinks are plastic and breakable when exposed to a lot of stress, but not horrible. If you upgrade the endlinks, be prepared for the mounting brackets to be the next thing to go on the rear.

I would also bring lots of oil, older motors tend to have some blow-by, especially at the limits.

I'd second what mark says...The only thing I ever replaced on my EJ22 was a knock sensor and alternator, either of which could be done pretty easily on the side of the road. Struts are different on each corner. I can't really think of much else. You should definitely post up a log or link to a blog to keep us updated...I love reading about people doing things like this (and looking at pictures).

I second that. Most reliable car Subaru ever made! As long as your radiator and coolant hoses are in good shape it should be unstoppable!

- Extra hose clamps
- Extra sensors (knock, cam, crank, maf)
- Oil
