Hey everyone i just recently bought a bone stock bk wagon. I bought it for 2k with a blown head and 160k on the motor/tranny/chasis after fixing everything that was bad or could possibly go bad soon im only at 3k now, seems like a good deal to me. I haven't done to much else to it yet but i have a lot of plans for it. Exterior so far ive added a cheap $20 EZ lip and tinted my fogs yellow(gotta say i love the way that looks!)

My next step is getting some suspension upgrades going but im not entirely sure how i should do it. Coilovers would defiantly be nice but i dont have the money for them yet so i was think Some kind of adjustable struts and probably h&r spring. any suggestions on struts should i use aftermarket struts or some kind of subaru strut?

well anyways this is where my cars at now.

For something slightly stiffer you can use 02-07 WRX struts and springs. They are basically a bolt on set up. On my 98 wagon I have wrx spec KYB GR2s with stock wrx springs. My friend who is on here, Rubie_25GT, has wrx GR2s with Eibach springs. Another friend who is on here, Hinyo, has wrx struts with I believe Prodrive springs.

What do you want to do with the car? If you plan on just daily driving, then just use good struts with a lowering spring. Adjustability SOUNDS nice when you're bragging, but very few people actually understand adjusting damper and rebound and even fewer actually do it.

KYB GR2/Excel struts, new strut tops (OEM or KYB, doesn't matter), H&R springs = best bang for buck for a daily.

Well it is my daily and i plan on having something functional as well as im trying to get a nice fitment.
basically im trying to get rid of the tire gap i figured about a 2 inch drop all around would be ideal! && i have these rims im planning on installing soon.

Congrats on the new car and welcome to SLi Nation!!
I have a 1998 Outback that I am running WRX struts and springs on. I find its way better than the stock set up, lower and firmer but I am still looking at getting coilovers for it in the next year or so.

The drop with stock wrx springs won't be much. Maybe .5-.75 of an inch. Its a nicer and a more firm ride.

After:

The front settled a little more than the after picture. The car had 17x7.5 +45 wheels with 205/45/17 tires in those pictures.

Hey Welcome!!!! Here the pictures of my car. lol hasn't been running long enough to get some better picture and shes down again but here's something to give you and idea anyways

I believe these are WRX KYB's with Prodrive springs. Rides not terrible and shes corners MUCH flatter with load. They are progressives I believe so correct me if Im wrong. they react when you need them. Prodrive Blue Spings

okay ive got another question maybe its a dumb question but i cant get a straight answer searching other threads..

So if it works to use 02 - 07 wrx struts and springs, would that mean its possible to use 02 - 07 wrx coilovers?

Just for the fun of it, I'm on gc 2.5rs kyb gr-2s with stock 2.5rs springs. Front end sits a little higher than I like, but it'll be a little lower when I drop in the dohc engine. Overall drop was slightly more than an inch, ride is comfy but firm with the 157/149 spring rates.
