I am pretty sure that B4 grille is a Type D and your car is a Type A-C.

rkrenicki
05-19-2014, 09:46 AM
Yep, that grill would need a different bumper, hood, and headlights.

Then again, since you have an 04.. Your bumper and grill are already the "JDM D-type" style for a wagon.

BG5guy
05-19-2014, 11:04 AM

So what are you going to do about the D type grille? I'd be interested in it if you don't want to hold onto it....

pm me about this, just sitting in my truk

Lowering springs are ordered, H&R springs 1.5 front 1.3 rear, might have to roll fenders with the BRZ rims since they are bigger and wider then the snowflakes. Also test fit the sedan skirts and they fit, so off to paint with those and the rear spoiler, no eta on them yet.

We'll today was a wasted day. Side skirts and spoiler were painted the wrong color and could not be installed. Then lowering a springs didn't fit, apparently I need wrx top hats to fit springs made for my car......weird. So, I test fit the aero gaurds I see what they would look like

Installed the rear Aero Gaurds today. Had a prety difficult time getting one side to stick. After hours of removing the old tape, sanding down the surface, getting all the goo off and applying the strongest 3m tape i could find alas the thing would not stick

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/05/AeroGaurd1_zpsafbbba00-1.jpg (http://s1139.photobucket.com/user/neil_edge/media/04%20legacy/AeroGaurd1_zpsafbbba00.jpg.html)

so, i decided to go ghetto and screw the sucker in.

It makes the car so much better. I know what you mean though. I was so nervous about installing the spoiler on my BK.

BG5guy
06-13-2014, 02:16 PM
Ya, I think it looks real good, worth the near breakdown I had during instal. Glad it's finally over. Took it off the other day to make it permanent. POR-15 around holes then touch up paint, the Right Stuff silicone around holes and on spoiler, rubber washers and 3m tape. Thing is solid and hopefully won't leak lol.

what coilovers are those?

Muse
06-13-2014, 11:12 PM
Have you tried taking the screws out of your rear aero guards? The tape may have just needed time to cure.

BG5guy
06-14-2014, 12:38 AM
k-sport 36 way adjustable fully dampening coils . And yes I did and the still popped out, so I put the screw back in and put some touch up on it. Works for me lol

Lancaster6
06-14-2014, 05:31 PM
I can't wait to see how it looks with the coilovers.

What brand of 3M tape did you use? I've had very good luck with 3M 4941 VHB tape. Just stick it on, clamp whatever it is you're taping together for 72 hours so it cures (only downside is the wait time) then badda bing badda boom it's stuck on there.

BG5guy
06-14-2014, 06:34 PM
Idk, I used some from my work, we use it to mount cable boxes to walls and stuff, has a 10lb rating, but man the guard just pops off, but now that I have the screw in it holds fine, but once I took the screw out POP.......oh well, screw adds flare lol

So, today is sunday and I always seem to find something to do while my son is sleeping. Decided to fab a radiator shroud. Has 0 effect on performance for me but cosmetically looks awesome. Have done this mod in every subaru I have owned so this one will be no different.

Materials:
Sheet metal ( I used 24 inch long peice, idealy 30 inch and cut to soze, mine is short but works for now)
Skill saw
Measuring tape
Sharpie
Drill w/ bits

Step 1:
measure and draw template on sheet metal ( or make a template using card board, cut accordingly and trace on sheet metal)

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/07/20140713_104710_zpsgrf298y_edit_14052779-1.jpg (http://s1139.photobucket.com/user/neil_edge/media/04%20legacy/20140713_104710_zpsgrf298y_edit_1405277961983_zpshpeqcumv.jpg.html)

Step 2:
Make your cuts and trim where needed ( note my measurmemts are where I liked it, and then I trimmed in areas to clean it up)

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/07/20140713_111544_zpsqs2e0j6_edit_14052780-1.jpg (http://s1139.photobucket.com/user/neil_edge/media/04%20legacy/20140713_111544_zpsqs2e0j6_edit_1405278012072_zpsmcyiot6i.jpg.html)

Step 3:
Measure radiator bracket locations, mark holes and drill depending on size needed ( not pictured)

Step 4:
Test fit shroud on car, remove and retrim in places as desired

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/07/20140713_114214_zpsgmcq8xle-1.jpg (http://s1139.photobucket.com/user/neil_edge/media/04%20legacy/20140713_114214_zpsgmcq8xle.jpg.html)

Step 5:
Once you have your shroud cut to how you like it, pick a paint color you want and paint away ( sheet metal will rust, recomend treating it with an anti rust agent prior to paint or use rustoleum paint)

I knew that lip would fit! I was too scared to buy one cause I don't drive the legacy anymore really, so not worth it to not fit.

Now that I know, I may look for another one. I could have gotten it for 140$ damn:(

BG5guy

Update.....lip does NOT fit, with a little work I could have made it fit and look nice but did not want to go through the hassle. Not sure if it because its coming drom a sedan and going on wagon ( highly doubt) or of it is for older style bumpers and doesnt fit my SE bumper, idk......just glad I tried to instal it b4 I paid the paint guy lol

Dead91silvia

The JDM bumpers are all different then the USDM ones. Yamazakisubaru has all the data on those bumpers as well as a few others.

Grimmrican

from my knowledge the bumper on ur wagon in japan is the rev D bumper for the bh. and yes thats a direct fit lip. i was looking at one in yahoo japan.

I was right in my mind then, didn't want to say anything as USDM stuff is so much different and confuses me a lot. That lip looks Luke a rev A-C, check my build thread to see what rev D wagon lip looks like.

The closest cousin to the US 2003-2004 bumper would be the JDM D-type Wagon bumper. A lip from one of those would fit the best/least amount of modification.

Wagons and Sedans there have different bumpers, Bumpers from types A to C are different from type D.

Muse

Check Rkrenicki's thread, he did it on a test pair of fenders. Problem is, the JDM fenders had an indent for them that the USDM fenders don't, so they stick out more.

BG5guy
09-21-2014, 10:30 AM
Ya I saw how he did it, I mainly just need measurments, like how far from trim line up and how far from door over etc. I want them to be as close to oemnposition as I can get

rkrenicki

I did not do any measurements, as I just eyeballed it. Measurements do not really matter, as long as both sides are the same.

does anyone local ( Portland OR) know of anyplace that would have a baja XT hood? Dealership price is almost 1500 for one unpainted. I dont care the color as long as its in decent condition, scratches chips dont mater but no holes or dents. If you know of someone or someplace selling one PLEASE LMK, this is the last mod i need for my car till next summer

Surprised that the Baja turbo hood was that much. I cheat cause I work at the dealer and the cost for the hood and scoop trim was around $800 total. I have the invoice around to find the price. It's 10% above cost. You don't have a friend or family that could get the same discount at the dealer? Subaru did ship it real nice and safe.
