Can I run wider rims with the SAME tire?

So I have katana k15 17*7 rims on my car with some federal 215 45 r17 tires. I'm moving to Georgia (from Oregon) next month and want to make sure I have a spare tire. My neighbor has some momocorse 17*7.5 rims, is it okay to run different size rims with the SAME tire? I know the tires have to with 1/4 inch circumference.. Thanks guys!

My rims on my Acura is 17x7.5 I'm running tire size 215-45-17, since 2004.
If your using the 17x7.5 as (1) spare for an AWD not sure if it's safe. For a FWD you can put it in the back for a RWD you can put it up front.

Wheels won't change circumference of a tire, unless the tire really doesn't fit the rim, and then it's unlikely it will be mounted anyways. As long as all 4 tires are the same size, type, and wear, you shouldn't be damaging the AWD system.

However, different wheels could be a little imbalanced as far as braking/acceleration goes with a different weight (L/R). If they're close, you likely won't notice. As a spare, I wouldn't be that concerned about it, as you're likely not going to need it. If you do get a puncture on your trip, your spare could likely get you to a tire shop for a quick patch if you really want to be safe about it. I mean, donut spares that come with most models aren't the same wheel, or even the same tire, they just issue a ~60ish mile restriction on them so you don't heat up the center diff too much.

Your spare rim will be 0.5" wider than your existing tire - this is ok providing the stretch doesn't reduce the overall rolling height too much.

If I get a puncture Say on the front right, I would switch both front tires. Then continue on my way. And yeah, the tires would be the same. And wear would be very similar, I've hardly put 150 miles on the tires on the katanas, and would get new tires for these rims.

So it's safe to say I can use these as spares?

Edit: the katana wheels are 7" wide offset 40mm, the momo is 7.5" wide 42 mm offset
