I have a friend with a manual outback (same gen donor car) that is willing to swap out the transmission, drive shaft, rear diff, ecu, etc.. I know going from auto to manual is a lot of work in itself with wiring and modifying things to fit. Could the donor car(currently manual) be replaced with all the automatic parts I took off my car, further could I put my automatic trans and everything back in the donor car and have it all work? Has this been done before? My whole swap is relying on this. Let me know what you guys think I can do about the situation.

You're going to run into problems using outback parts of the a non-outback car. The crossmember and carrier bearing are both made for the 1" drivetrain drop the outbacks got.

As for swapping your auto in there, you think a manual swap is a lot of work. You're talking whole wiring swap to do this right.

You'd be better off trading him cars.
