So, after running through a handful of white second gen wagons, I decided it was time for THIS young guy to have his "forever", "grown up" car.

Of course, I didn't decide this until I had already found the Outback on CL, and test drove it the next day.

So, the car. Found the 2008 Subaru Outback XT about two hours away in Hillsboro, OR. She had 99,456 miles on her, and had just had the timing belt serviced by the lot, as well as having the banjo bolt screens removed. Other than that, the car is in GREAT shape. Oh, AND it's the uber-hard-to-find manual five speed! Started life in Maryland, where it lived for 11 months, including a minor bumper bender 6 months into that duration. Shortly thereafter the car moved to Washington state and has been here since!

Chris, thanks!

Muse, I really try not to. I don't like to wait for things sometimes, and i usually have at least a rough sketch of how I want the car done before I even go pick it up!

Petro, thanks as well! But sorry, you definitely can NOT have my luscious 08 tails :)

Very nice man. Really liking the black on black. Auto or manual?

It is a manual. I have refused to even consider the notion of owning a Turbo'd AT car. That's why I'm so glad I found this car. I get to have my cake and eat it too!

I had a feeling it was a 5mt. Silly subaru dropping the manual in the gt wagon.

Indeed. The fact that that was a one year definitely makes me sad. Oh well, now I have LSD, 4.44s, more aggressive wheel wells, and all kinds of other good stuff!

So, a little update for the masses.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/12/20141123_140244_zpsdszgqhmy-1.jpg

The car is now back to stock height. She's wearing a set of Neuspeed RS10's, in 18x8 +35 (Just a hair over 17 pounds!) Wrapped with 235/45 Conti Extreme Contact DWS.

She's also been fitted with a Nameless Performance LWCP, a Synapse BPV, an SPT cold air intake, Nameless Performance heatshield, and most importantly, a Nameless Performance Turbo back exhaust system. 3" stainless DP with divorced wastegate exhaust, full 3" midpipe, running out to dual 5" mufflers with double walled turn down tips.

She has just recently finally been tuned, and is, according to the tuner with his vast experience, putting around 260 AWHP to the ground.

Next on the list will be some sort of Electronic Boost Control Solenoid. Then, it will be time to start shopping for intercoolers and injectors, as well as begin researching TGV delete methods.

After/during all that, I'm going to be gathering funds to build the 22T shortblock I have on the shelf, and make it plenty stout for 400 AWHP. Long distance future plans include most likely either a FP Green turbo, or a Blouch TD05-20G. The rest of the bolt on parts will be oriented to support the eventual turbine upgrade.

Amazing ride.
Why did you go back to stock height?
Im torn with my Outback Sedan ride height, not sure if I should lower or not.

Can we see a back end pic?

I want to see those dual 5" tips :)

I am pretty sure he means the mufflers are 5 inches in length, not a 5 inch tip. But I could be wrong.

Ganadors that I had on mine for a short time were 5", current HKS are 4.5" OD.

Amazing ride.
Why did you go back to stock height?
Im torn with my Outback Sedan ride height, not sure if I should lower or not.

At the ride height that Legacy struts plus swift springs gave me, I was having to pick my way through potholed gravel parking lots very carefully. Decided that wasn't something I wanted to have to do in an Outback.

My personal recommendation, if you wanted to drop the ride height just a little bit, and maintain functionality, I would throw some GT sedan springs on your stock struts. Would work splendidly, and drop you approximately 1".

Soba is correct. The tips themselves are only 3", it is the mufflers that are short sections of 5" pipe that the main exhaust tubing runs through.

Like this:

which makes me realize I apparently have leaking gaskets where the axle back meets the y pipe. Pardon the filthy car, it's knee deep in monsoon season here.

My Megan Racing catback leaks on the one side of the axle back connection like your nameless. I dont know if its the way the axle back portions hang

Turns out mine aren't actually leaking. Must have been some sort of odd grunge accumulation.

Also, the 18s are gone now. Ordered up some Sparco Terras, 16x7 +35, to be wrapped with good ol' General Grabber AT2's

Link to wheels.

You can fit 16"s?
I know LGTs can't but I never checked if OBXT's had the same brakes as LGTs

Regardless the wheels look awesome and can't wait to see them on the wagon

wentz912

Yup, 05-09 Outbacks fit 16's just fine. I actually even made the round hole 15's from a 95-99 fit my 07 N/A. Just took a little buffing/grinding on the front calipers with a pearl disc.

Well, it was a nice sunshiney day here today, so I washed up the car, and went to one of my favorite spots to get a few shots of the car in it's current state

Amazing ride. Nice Rally inspired wheels...

I'm looking at getting Method Race Wheels MR502. http://www.methodracewheels.com/collections/all/products/mr502-rally-bronze. Will take some time to get them as other things are more of a priority.

The method wheels are sweet, but the Sparco's are half as much. I don't need REAL rally wheels for this particular car.

Thanks for the props, foohfooh!
