Here is my new 2005 Legacy GT in Regal Blue with 172,546 miles. I am the second owner of the car and have to say that for the miles, the car is exceptionally clean inside and out. Now my job is to keep it clean.

Do this: Banjo Filter on oil pickup tube and also AP. Im 70K less than you but its well worth the longevity of these cars!

Oh god! Now you have a turbo car?! lol

Looks awesome, and looks like the previous owner took great care of it. Do you know if that's the original turbo or motor with that many miles?
Have fun with it!

As gorgeous as these cars are, I refuse to get one until I have the money to swap the auto for a manual, as soon as I buy one.

When I do have that kind of money? Hell yes, I'm doing it. I love the look of the 4th gen wagons.

Congrats!! I love my 05 gt wagon. I just hit 56k on mine. Still have my 97 lgt and the 06 spec and the 02 wrx.... I really like that color you have. Do you plan to keep the 99 and the svx?

Im not entirely sure but I do intend to find out just to be on the safe side.

Im thinking of getting the Weathertech digital fit ones.

Do you plan to keep the 99 and the svx?

Im planning on selling both of them so I can put the money towards paying off this car.

So far I have loaded the 93 octane "Stage 1" map.(Im not sure if I plan on even taking to the car to "Stage 2" at all.)

The cars feels like a different beast and I definitely got to push the new map on the highway on my way to school. But I will need to find another mount because I am not all about using the adhesive mount on the dash(plus there isn't much room to stick it on the dash anyway).

Does it use a little ball and socket on the adhesive thing? If so you can look into this.

I actually just ordered a vent mount for it. It was suggested to me that I should try and shy away from any suction cup mounts because that circle that is left behind can signify a thief that you may have something like a gps(or accesport in this case) in your car somewhere.

After a closer look, Im not sure if that mount would work with the newer V3 Accessports. It does seem as though they have made a change in the mounting system because the new one uses a dual prong insert that seems to be used for Cobb specific mounts.

The link below is of the case that comes with the Accessport.
http://www.maperformance.com/images/D/d-111124-06.jpg

I wonder how much extra hp you get out of stage 1?

Cobb's website states a 14% HP gain and 13% TQ gain.

Their Mustang Dyno showed 196.3HP stock and 223.9HP after stage one. The estimated flywheel HP is 290.

This is Cobb's rendition of the "Stage 1" requirements.

? Stage1 93 v300
o Fuel Requirements: 93 - 94 octane or better
o Intake Requirements: Stock airbox and stock air filter
o Exhaust Requirements: Stock exhaust or upgraded cat-back exhaust
o Boost Targets: ~15.0psi peak boost pressure tapering down to ~13.0psi by the 7000RPM redline, +/- 0.8 psi

It looks like rallysportdirect is having a sale on accessports right now as well.

There are many different stage 1 maps to choose from to match your mods.

At this point, I am heavily debating the move to stage 2. More power(who doesn't want that) and rumored better fuel economy. But the only problem is I would need a downpipe and the intercooler would need the "bullet-proof" mod or I would need to replace it with an aftermarket one(I would wait to see the Grimmspeed one they are currently building).

Im just afraid the stock intercooler with as many miles as mine has been weakened and the increased boost would seperate the metal tabs for the endtanks.

Im running Stg 1 right now off the AP and plan to go Stg 2. I highly recommend the brackets and tabs that are sold on LegacyGT.com and a boost controller if your going Stage 2. Have you done a compression test on the block? Id also do that before going Stg 2 or higher.

Yeah, its quite pricey. You can try to find a Perrin TMIC, but there are some fittment issues.

chrish8r
10-30-2014, 12:43 PM
Well last night around 10pm, I decided to start taking off the old exhaust and installing the Megan Racing system.

The only difficult part was removing the old rusted junk.....Of course the spring bolts gave me trouble. I had to grind the one off but the other snapped off very cleanly which made life(somewhat) simple.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/10/20141029_233034_zps4n2es6zf-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20141029_233034_zps4n2es6zf.jpg.html)

The most difficult part was removing the remnants of the old donut gasket. It was stuck onto the downpipes flange and would only come off in small chunks. I got most of it off after chiseling at it with a flathead.....

The install of the Megan Racing system was fairly simple. All the stuff lined up within reason and sits firmly in its spot. Here is what it looks like on the car:

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/10/20141030_122610_zpsotzwts2y-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20141030_122610_zpsotzwts2y.jpg.html)

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/10/20141030_122632_zpslgxsf85t-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20141030_122632_zpslgxsf85t.jpg.html)

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/10/20141030_122620_zpsuk6pxtpk-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20141030_122620_zpsuk6pxtpk.jpg.html)

Contrary to what a number of people have said about this exhaust being loud, its fairly quiet I think.

chrish8r
10-30-2014, 10:57 PM
Well it turns out I have an exhaust leak and I know exactly what it is....The donut gasket connection!

There was about a 50/50 chance the donut gasket would work right with what I have seen on other cars. So today I ordered the Grimmspeed OEM downpipe to 3" catback adapter.

chrish8r
11-04-2014, 02:53 PM
Well my Grimmspeed stock dp>3" exhaust adapter came and I wasted no time putting it on.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/11/20141103_232836_zpsvebyhfte-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20141103_232836_zpsvebyhfte.jpg.html)

It uses the stock donut gasket on one side and it comes with a Grimmspeed 2x thick gasket for the other side for the catback.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/11/20141104_140155_zpssjvhohdx-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20141104_140155_zpssjvhohdx.jpg.html)

It got rid of the spring bolts and uses its own hardware which I prefer over the spring bolts anyway.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/11/20141104_140205_zpsjwnshyqo-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20141104_140205_zpsjwnshyqo.jpg.html)

The install took me probably 15-20 minutes from gathering tools to having the car back on the ground.

I plan on having the banjo bolt replaced(or have the filter in the bolt removed, not sure yet) when the upipe and down pipe go in.

And Ill make sure to put a compression test on my list. Never really thought about that before but rather be safe than sorry.

On LegacyGT is the DIY on how to remove the banjo bolt (Its quite the PITA if you dont have a 17mm stubby wrench). All you need to do is remove the filter and put the bolt back in. There is technically another banjo filter on the AVCS side but the one on the turbo is more important. Would be good to do it during the up pipe and down pipe, but it can be done with out those parts being installed.

I did however get the car tinted at D & L Tinting as a christmas gift. I went with 35% on the front side windows and 20% on the rest.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2015/01/42baf2c88036d0a1b3c45978a117ed67-1.jpg

It definitely changed the overall appearance if the car.

Edit: I saw that Mishimoto has jumped on the lgt, 08+wrx tmic production recently. Looks like the perrin/avo style.

Looks good with the tint. Its amazing how something so simple makes such a nice difference. Once I got my 3.0R tinted I decided the rest of the cars I own in the future will get tinted.

So today was around 40 degrees F so I took advantage of that and had the car washed and snapped some pictures.

The pictures show of the tint a little bit better than the last pictures.

And a mugshot/ "selfie" with the car....

I also bought myself a Treefrog "Black Squash" air freshener that sits under the driver seat which smells very good and is pleasant.

And lastly, I installed a SDX 35w 5k hid kit a while back. I wanted to wait to post to make sure it was a decent kit. I previously had a Xentec kit that lasted maybe a few days before a bulb burnt out a blew the headlight fuse.

Well good news and bad news....

Good news is i bought an OEM Subaru rear cargo mat for pretty cheap [emoji2]

Bad news is i need a new driveshaft for the car....

I have had a vibration under acceleration and a "ping" noise when going from P to R, P to D and R to D. I finally got under the car and checked out the driveshaft, tons of play in the ?u-joint? area.

I already ordered a new one and it seems like a straightforward install...i guess we will see.

Driveshaft has been replaced and the car no longer "pings" or has the vibration on acceleration. Having to buy it made the money for mods disappear so nothing exciting for a little while. Haha

Thats crazy that the driveshaft wore up that fast. Nothing better than fixing the problem though

I definitely feel more comfortable driving it now with that fixed.

No real updates on the car lately, ive been waiting on the weather to become nice out to do much.

I did however black out the rear lettering and chrome strip above the license plate.

So I finally have some updates on the car.

I took part in the IAG floor mat bracket group buy.

Floor mats were really dirty but the bracket works great with the WeatherTech Digital fit floormats.

Today my Rally Innovations light bar arrived and I promptly installed it. I will have to get use to having a little less front bumper ground clearance and not parking as close to curbs and such. The directions were straightforward and the install was simple.

I used a wireless receiver instead of a physical switch because I didn't want to start drilling holes for a switch in this car. The receiver is a relay controlled by a key fob style remote that controls the on/off of the lights. Plus it works up to 30 meters away.

I used the LED lights I had on my old outback. I do plan on finding a LED light bar now that I can measure the actual distance between the mounting points.

Finally got around to taking some more pictures with the light bar installed and the car being clean for once.(Our road is all torn up putting in water pipes and the holes are filled with stones and is really dusty).

I also installed LED reverse lights. The lights are Phillips 12841B2 White Exterior Vision LED Bulb. They are definitely much brighter than the halogen ones.

Very nice on the LED reverse lights. I have the RRev LED reverse lights in my 09 and they are awesome.

Surprisingly it has been over a year since I have updated this thread about my car. I had a full time internship all summer and school has started back up. (Thanks 98legwag for the reminder, haha)

Back in March 2016, I installed a set of Drag Dr-19 wheels(17x7.5 et45) with Nankang Noble Sport NS-20(225/45R17). Got them off Craigslist for a great deal with nearly new tires and the previous owner had them on a LGT. I paired the wheels with black Gorilla lugs and hubcentric rings.

By late July, I developed some squealing from brakes so I decided to replace my pads and rotors. I bought Brakelabs slotted rotors with a gold zinc coating and ceramic brake pads. This is my 4th set of pads and rotors I have installed from Brakelabs and I am very pleased. The zinc coating prevents that ugly rust around the hub portion.

I didn't get many chances to fully clean my car, so I took a decent picture when I did.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2016/09/IMG_7691_zpsfefx7wfy-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/IMG_7691_zpsfefx7wfy.jpg.html)

I had purchased a new light bar to replace the two round ones and installed yellow bulbs in my highbeams.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2016/09/20160924_161155_zpscmk5pgyj-1.jpg (http://s1234.photobucket.com/user/chrish8r/media/20160924_161155_zpscmk5pgyj.jpg.html)

The adjustable mounts on the light bar were a hair short of the brackets on the metal bar. So I used some aluminum bar to mount it.

I have changed my oil with Rotella, but I tried Castrol Edge this last time to see how that fairs.

I am digging it with those wheels.
