View Full Version : Will 02-03WRX Front Strut fit spring & top hat from 06STi?
I have a set of original 06 STi Strut&Spring combo in assembled condition
50k miles on them!
the rear assembly may fit mine as I expect
but front strut does not fit mine as I have been done for many researches)
Regard I would grab spring & top hat from 06STi to fit other strut as topic said.
Should I get original used 04'STi/02-03WRX strut (for me, its difficult to find)
or
Should I get new or used KYB ExcelG,GR2 strut
Anyone , I need you guys to help out confirm the the right one.
Thank you

I am not sure about about the WRX struts. You should be able to use that spring and top hat combo with 04 STI struts. Keep in mind if you put a sedan setup on a wagon the rear will sag. You would need to get the saggy butt spacers to level it out.

You can use the kyb strut in place for the 05+ sti struts.
Heck you can even use your stock strut and slap on the sti springs/top hat.
Subaru basically used the same design on the front springs/hats (minus the rate and height) from early 90's to maybe late 2000.
Just wait till you slap your suspension in and see if you like it first. You might like the drop on the rear and match it with the front :)

I have wrx wagon struts and springs on my 98 wagon and it sits level. That is why I suggest the spacers if using sedan parts. But r3v_v3ng3 makes a good point. Here is a link to the spacers. Make sure to match them to the rear top hats you use.

I've got a set of '02 WRX wagon springs I'm letting go for $75, if you're interested.

thank y'all for warm suggestions that remind me to clarify myself a lot [ I kinda really new for Subaru's world ]
So, you guys made me have direction to get them on this Saturday.
Anyway,my all struts were blown already.
[Muse] What is different between sedan / wagon [rate and / or height] , would be especially in front?
keep in mind, the wagon springs should be pm'ed later if i don't like the level in rear. [can you sell just rear for $40 shipped]
if I'm not mistaken, the front is the exact same rate, wagon to sedan. I'd rather not split them up though.

That's ok Muse. I might contact you ,if the result goes wrong.

That is on stock 05 STI springs and 04 STI struts. It is FWA2500's car. I believe he told me a while back that he did not have saggy butt spacers but would use them if he had to do it all over again.

thank you for good example,
However, I wouldn't love to have that saggy butt in person.
The same level or lower in front would be appointed.
Anyway, heading to contact Muse aboud wagon springs ASAP.
and I have ordered KYB Front strut WRX 02-03 from Rockauto , pretty tight in my budget.
Will see once I got everything laying around here.

Its becoming a pain. It needs a "new" rear diff, the driver's door window regulator is on its way out, as is the alternator.

My pain would not far from you Lol
The car has jerking while turning It may need new Propeller shalf due to it hit previous owner 's drive way once mechanic fixed t/m rear seal.
also all struts & some suspension bushings such as CTRL arm bushing were become toast along with Alternators running noise.
I slowly get the car in its shape.
- be patiences-
the jerking could also be torque bind. Not an uncommon issue with these as they get old.

I will get interchangeable prop shaft from junkyard to be spare if so you know.
