Engine speed?

I have a 1996 Legacy Outback with the 2.5engine....at 50 MPH my RPM is 2000... Is this right....sorta seems like it's not in hi gear?
Also the right rear wheel seems to "hop" a little until I get to about 15 mph.. any ideas on that? Thanks for any help

It's an auto, the ej25 wasn't available in 96 with a manual.

That sounds about right to me though, based on my forester (same drivetrain).

What do you mean by that? Does it have drums or discs in the back?
