Been lurking on here for some time now and figured I would finally say hello.
Name's Stefan and there's not much to tell about myself, other that I'm from Germany and that I do like cars quite a lot. :wink:
I still do have other hobbies though, which would be Audio/HomeCinema (as I'm a huge movie, music and videogame geek), photography and computers.
I've owned a few cars since I got my driver's license, but till the end of last year, they all were VWs.
Owned this GTI for the last 5 years, but last year decided that it was time to reshell it, giving it a better engine and AWD.

Figured as a new daily, I would do something different this time. I do love VWs a lot, grew up with them and feel most at home driving them, but I'm by no means limited to them.
Other moms do have nice daughters as well, as we say in Germany. :wink:
Always liked japanese cars, and for some reason I liked the Legacy II quite a lot... especially this beauty got me hooked on them:

...also the fact that they were quite different from the MKIII Golf GTI I daylied before: Japanese, boxer engine, AWD, "one class higher" than the Golf, station wagon, etc..
Ended up buying a pretty abused, but cheap 96 Legacy GX 2.2 that had been sitting in the trash corner of a Subaru dealership.
Had a few broken parts: Air suspension, CV joint, knock sensor, leaking valve cover gaskets, etc. but only minor rust and a whole lot of new parts. Legacy IIs sell pretty cheap here in general as they're no common cars and thanks to the fact that they eat a lot of fuel.
Guy was just happy to get a little more money than the scrapyard would've offered.
Fixed everything, dropped in some audio and the facelift steering wheel, then just day drove it since then.

Two or three months back then, I discovered a cheap 98 Legacy GT-B Limited here in Germany that already had German registration.
The engine was broken, still ran but felt like one cylinder didn't want to play anymore.
The price was dead cheap though, considering the body was spotless, German registration and only one owner in Germany so far.
It also came with a few spare engine parts, like a second set of turbos and such, so I didn't have to think much about buying it.

...as you might guess, the broken engine's the reason why I signed up here now. :wink:
Thanks to the Legacy community in Germany being more as thin, I googled my way through the www and came across this forum more than once, so figured this might be the right place to get some good answears to my questions, but that'll be the topic of another thread. :grin:
