Figured as there's not much to show of my GT-B yet, I would at least show what I worked on the last 5 years :)

I had quite some bad luck with this Golf, still love it to death, lol.
When I bought it, it looked like this and already had done 22xxxxKm.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_001-1.jpg
A week after I bought it some guy backed up into my fender...
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/smoverolling1kgki-1.jpg
Few months later I discovered it had some rust (was all hidden under tons of sikaflex).
Few years later, I dsicovered that the Golf was rear ended pretty bad at the previous owner, fixed properly then, but badly conservated, hence all the unusual rust for a 97 MKIII.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_166-1.jpg

After 360000Km, my gearbox started dying, so I grabbed the gearbox from the 2.0 16V and gave it a little overhaul.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_229-1.jpg

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_241-1.jpg
Few days later the clutch started slipping badly, so I decided it was time to fix the gearbox
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_252-1.jpg
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_253-1.jpg
Clutch was soaked with oil from the gearbox.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_256-1.jpg
New gearbox was hydraulic clutch and wire driven shifter, so I had to make a hole for the master cylinder, most Golfs already had the hole there, but of course not mine.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_257-1.jpg
While I was at it, I also gave it a new steering rack as the old one was leaking, and of course I repainted and cleaned most other parts.

Bought a second set of wheels, because why not...
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_269-1.jpg
...and because I had done all this work and fixed about everything, I just had to crash it on the wet Nürburgring again. :smt021

I bought my 96 Legacy GX 2.2 after this, as I figured it was useless to patch the Golf's shell up again.
Decided I would first finish my long term project (86 Scirocco 16V GTX) and then reshell the Golf, but life happened and a few months later I had the chance to get the ultimate car to reshell my MKIII with.
...MKIII Golf Syncro 1.8 3 Door with a sunroof.
They are pretty rare and even in a bad condition and with no extras they sell for a lot of money, as pretty much everybody wo wants to go Turbo AWD is looking for one.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_274-1.jpg
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_275-1.jpg

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_279-1.jpg
The Syncro was in a pretty bad condition, but everything I needed was in a good condition, including the rust free and untouched shell.
Two weeks after I got it, I started working right away and pulled the 2.0 16V out that had been sitting in my garage for 4 years.
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_280-1.jpg

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_295-1.jpg

Swapped the 16V cluster with the board computer in
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_298-1.jpg
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/09/golfgti_301-1.jpg
Shortly after I this, I found and bought the GT-B.
In the next weeks, I'll part out the red Golf and swap all the good body parts onto the Syncro, also will swap the small 4lug axles to the bigger 5lug ones from the red Golf, including the bigger GTI/VR6 brakes, got everything already waiting in the garage.
Next year I should get the whole body repainted so that it'll just look like my old Golf.
This turned out quite a bit longer than I inteded it to be, but oh well... just figured I would show a little of what I already did and what I'm currently working on even if it's not a Subaru. If there are any people interested in this project I'll make sure to keep this updated.
Just hope I can soon show some progress on the GT-B as well. :smt023

Few days later the clutch started slipping badly, so I decided it was time to fix the gearbox

Clutch was soaked with oil from the gearbox.

New gearbox was hydraulic clutch and wire driven shifter, so I had to make a hole for the master cylinder, most Golfs already had the hole there, but of course not mine.

While I was at it, I also gave it a new steering rack as the old one was leaking, and of course I repainted and cleaned most other parts.

After 4 days of work, everything was back in place.

Bought a second set of wheels, because why not...

...and because I had done all this work and fixed about everything, I just had to crash it on the wet Nürburgring again.

The Syncro was in a pretty bad condition, but everything I needed was in a good condition, including the rust free and untouched shell.
Two weeks after I got it, I started working right away and pulled the 2.0 16V out that had been sitting in my garage for 4 years.

Engine was out a few hours later

Had to add a few cables to the engine harness for the automatic a/c the Syncro came with

All done. Engine did start up right again after I plugged the ignition coil and fuel pump back in.

:smt023
