Hey all, thinking about boosting my 02 LGT, on a "budget" so not looking to go standalone, pp6s are hard to find and harder to find a tuner.... Another option I know is emanage, but I'm inquiring about a newer ecu

I know the 05 impreza RS ecu is the first in the impreza line to allow open source tuning for the n/a variant... So I guess my question is 2 part, one which ecu in the legacy line was the first of the n/as to be able to be open source tuned.

and two, has anyone swapped to either the 05 rs or whichever legacy ecu to do in a third gen??

You can also swap to a wrx ecu, there is a very detailed thread on rs25.com on doing this ecu swap. And it's probably better suited to what you're wanting to do.

I also feel I should give my reasoning behind recommending the wrx ecu over a 05+ rs ecu.
The biggest factor to consider with the 05+ ecu is the throttle by wire system. This would require you to swap to the electronic throttle body and pedal assembly and to splice in the wiring that runs it. Resulting in a higher initial cost and more potential fail points in the future to achieve the same end goal.

Yeah... After I posted I started thinking about that... And immobilizer... I skimmed the thread (thanks for posting it) but I'll read through when I get the time
