Started the process of converting to an Outback Bumper. Posted a wanted ad for one and found a guy selling the beam support, foam and cover. The bumper had a small crack but we were able to use a soldering gun to melt the plastic together.

Will 02-07 wrx rear sway bar fit our wagon without modification ?
You have to cut a small section out of something on the bottom of the spare tire well for the wrx sway bar to have enough clearance.

Update:
3-4 coats of Subaru Glacier white 230 Basecoat and 2 coats of clear. Used the brand Automotive Touchup, which I highly recommend for a cheaper alternative to professionally painted. I was quoted by a shop for painting the bumper for $250.
(2) cans of basecoat and (2) cans of clear coat plus (1) can Prep Solvent cost me around $65.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2014/12/photo_8-1.jpg
The bumper isn't perfect, there's a few tiny scratches visable, and specks of dirt in the clear coat here and there, but not bad. Looks good from afar ;)

Do you have to get OB bumper beam or use original Legacy crash beam?
That depends on what year your car is. The 97 GT and 98-99 Legacys have the same beam as the Outbacks. 95-96 Legacys and 97 L have a different beam and you would need to get an Outback beam.

We did cut the hump under the spare tire, but the screw that holds the mount to the car body started free spinning...it was a nightmare! I had Rubie_25GT 's uncle cut a hole in the spare wheel well area to get to the bolt (I refused to watch!) And he fabricated a custom sway bar mount so it would work. I'd have to get under the car and take pics sometime.

Not all Subaru cancer starts at the quarter panels, as I found out.
I actually didn't know there was roof rust (it was buried under the rail) till it leaked rain after I bought the car. The holes were welded closed and sealed with POR 15 rust paint. No more leaky wagon! It's not a pretty fix, but I say, this is my work car not a show car :)

You actually don't have to drill holes... there's this marine or aircraft grade adhesive that I used on a set of side skirts on my old GF8 - couple of thin beads, and some tape, a 2x4 to provide support underneath and those skirts stayed on through snow, mud, rocks and a few driveway angle scrapes without any issues.
I am digging the look though!

Hmm may try to fit sideskirts, depends on how low I go when I lower the car.
Is there any other "junkyard" type car I could try the rear wiper arm with? Honda Pilot would be tough to find in a pick-n-pull. Thanks for the feedback!

The sides skits are not really any lower. The pinch welds for the jack points are lower I think. As for the Pilot wiper arm, its cheap from Honda. Here is the part # 76740-S9V-A01.

Yeah, side skirts aren't low at all - the pinch welds for the jack points are right there. The skirts just "flare" the body out toward the wheel face so the car has a bit more visual presence.
Pilot arm is about $5-7. Order it over the phone from the honda dealer, pick it up and put it on with a 10mm ratchet. Easy!

November 2015
I wasn't quite satisfied with my SPT muffler, so I went with the Vibrant Performance 1046 STREETPOWER muffler. It had the longest tip they made, fitting for the wagon bumper.
**Special shout out to Rubie_25GT 's uncle for helping make this happen!**
Lots of cutting and welding was needed. I started with a stock wagon piping found at the junkyard. The vibrant was universal so it had no hangers, and was a straight thru system as opposed to the legacy muffler which is slightly offset from inlet to outlet.
865
864
Here is the finished product with the welds. I also had to buy a 1.75'' to 2'' reducer pipe and another one 2'' to 2.5''. The reducers were fairly long so we cut the piping to minimize it.
867
Had to trim the bumper a bit to make room.
868

I wanted to use the stock hangers so we went to home depot and got thin metal to bend as a clamp around the muffler and thread pipe as hangers. It was helpful in that way we could adjust the muffler left or right.

Had a car day this past Saturday, 98legwag had to fix his front caliper and Rubie_25GT was working on his horns and lights.

I had found these JDM eyelids from Croober. They came Glacier white but I decided they look better black.

They don't seem to interfere with light output, and they line up with 3m tape along the top.

Changed out my door card inserts to a Star Wars fabric that glows in the dark (not that well). The black and white makes a good contrast though. I used hot glue gun to make the edges stick tight to the plastic. Also went to Best Buy and got Kenwood 6.5'' speakers to replace the stock 18 year old speakers. With better speakers, I foresee a head unit upgrade soon!

You can buy fabric adhesive that works very well for this type of application. It sprays in kind of like a spider web and gives a nice plush finish. I used it when I carpeted my sub box. Just dont spray too much of it as it sometimes will seep through the fabric if its sprayed heavily. Looks awsome though! Haha

Yeah I should have gone that route. Thanks though. Maybe when I'm tired of the pattern I'll use a better process. :)

So yesterday morning, the wagon wouldn't start. It would crank, but not start and run. Actually on the first try it started, then shut off a second later. After that, it just keeps cranking when I turn the key. We isolated the problem to a fuel issue, as gas is not coming through the fuel filter. The relays work (we swapped with a good relay to check) and I can hear them clicking. A friend asked me when I turn the key to ON, do I hear a hum noise from the back by the rear seats from the fuel pump. Which I don't. The only thing I can distinguish is the clicking of the relay. We tested the fuel pump wire and it isn't getting 12v (more like 4v/ although I'm not sure we checked the right wire) which is the puzzling part. So any thoughts from anyone who has had this happen? Next we are going to check the Fuel pump.

I remember this happened to my wife's GT-B Ltd. The fuel filter was so gnarly that fuel couldn't get through and the pump burned out trying to do so. Once I replaced that filter/pump assembly, everything worked fine again. I will be back home in a few days and I have a spare fuel filter and pump in the garage, but I'm doubting you are able to wait that long.

Was the filter/pump assembly one piece in the GT-B? On the USDM cars the filter is in the engine bay and pump is in the tank.

Update: It was the fuel pump not working! Got one from AutoZone for about $80 and a new Fuel filter as well. Car started right up after a few cranks to get the gas back in the system. I managed to take a few pics.

Changed the oil yesterday, and took advantage of the nice weather.

Scored some interesting things at the junkyard as well. Hoping to install this weekend. One piece rain guards, both sides. And fold in black mirrors from an outback. The rain guards are brown in color. I bought some Night Shade tint spray to darken it but not sure if that will help change the color. Considering just spray painting it black too.

Also Rubie_25GT hooked me up with the vinyl sticker for my wind fairing. Can't wait to nerd out even more :P

Updated pics of the wagon. The rain guards came out nicely, I gave it about 3 coats of night shade. The wind fairing was mounted with custom brackets from under the light bar. Also added a Stormtrooper Subaru Rally Pig sticker

Love the rain guards and the wind fairing! You'll like the folding mirrors too. It must have been a rare '95 Outback that they came on. Great work, the Star Wars theme has really come to life.

It's been a while since I posted but last night I was able to put on my new Hard Race front and rear endlinks. Made such a difference in turning quality. The old ones were in pretty bad shape. Had no issues with fitment either. To recap, I have a wrx rear sway 20mm sway bar and and LGT 20mm in front.

A new year of owning this Subaru, and it never fails to impress me how the 2.2 just keeps on running. The wagon has 235,000 miles on it now. Maintenance wise nothing major, just brake pads and rotors in the rear. I had some clear coat come off my hood due to some highway debris (still not sure what it was) so I installed black vinyl to hide the blemish like a front hood bra would. There is some rusting on the roof by the windshield I will have to address soon.
Shoutout to Hinyo for retrofitting Morimoto projectors into my jdm headlights. We kept my DDM HIDs at 5k. The light output is 10x better and well worth it. I recommend this route to anyone with a second gen legacy.

I bought ProDrive Blue WRX springs this fall from Hinyo 's 1998 Legacy GT. Installed those and got it aligned at a shop I go to in Hanover, MD. Got the alignment specs almost dead on, and the car handles amazingly well. The wagon doesn't lean around turns like it used to. It only seemed to drop the car in the front about half an inch. No clearance issues or rubbing.
