i figured out that if i take out the snorkus i should not put the intake on my car...

Ok so i have a 93 subaru legacy (N/A) and non turbo
Im leaving next week to Nicaragua and my grandma donated me her car..which is the 93 subaru legacy...its stock and the engine has never been touched ..all i have on it is an exhaust!

So it doesnt sound so loud it has to be the snorkus..so i know that if i put an intake theres no need to take out the snorkus...

Buying an intake while im here in miami...so i heared i need a Maf adapter in order to adapt the intake...but where do i find the right Maf adapter??i took a pic of one but im not sure it will fit here it is

Snorkus is easy. Pull the fender liner and undo a few 10 or 12mm bolts. Taking off the passenger side wheel will help with space.

That looks like the deal right there. It just clamps to the end of the pipe and the MAF bolts to it, and you clamp a cone filter onto your MAF

are you saying that..that Maf adapter will work?
The people told me to look for a Vibrant Maf adapter or something like that..


But if i take out the snorkus...i just take it out and thats it do i have to add something else...or do i just take it out and Put everything back together how it was before

exactly, the snorkusectomy as it's called, is jsut the removal of an intake silencer on the passenger. It's kinda funny looking, just a big plastic mess. THe removal will allow air to flow faster into your airbox, allowing more air past your MAF, and into your throttle body. More air = better combustion.

THere are a bunch of different options from here. You can remove your airbox and the whole shibang which leads to the throttle body and replace it with a new intake (like I did, look at my posts and you can see a pic in my "meet and greet" post) and filter. This is the more expensive route but looks pretty dope in your engine bay. It will make the sound noticably different when you've got the pedal to the metal and sounds pretty pimp and may or may not give a noticeable power gain.

Another popular option is keeping the stock airbox, but simply replacing the filter inside with a performance oriented, high flow filter like a Green or K*N. Either of these are a great option. THis requires less work, so if you're fairly sceptical about mechanical work, this is the best route IMHO. In hindsight, I should have just done this, as I explain in a bit....

Reading around, I've seen that adding the new intake causes your car to run a bit 'shitty' at low RPM's, i mean it kinda farts around when you're just putting around a parking lot. Car doesn't idle as well......etc.....

I've got the 2.5 so I may be giving some misinformation, hopefully you 2.2 guys can fill in where I blew up....

oh yeah, the MAF adapter.....

I recently bought an Ebay intake .....a generic intake available on ebay.....that included the MAF adapter....

btw..adapter NOT needed if you are just dropping in the better filter into your stockairbox.

if you are deciding on the entirely new intake like I did, just find one with the MAF adapter included. THey are available for $20-75 and don't differentiate all that much....Which ever you get you can always replace the filter attached.

Just make sure you buy the intake designed for the 2.2 .....

When you say airbox you mean where the snorkus is right? or after i take out the snorkus
and how much money did it cost you to do this?

i guess my last question was to dumb lol

ok so i came to the conclusion that i would love to take out the snorkus...but then again i wouldt know what to do next..ive seen people adding custom mods after the snorkus...but im not a big engine person and im going to a country where im sure i wont find everything i need..

the intake thing seems to be the easiest way out..its not what i want but its better than nothing..

if i put the intake will i hear more increase in sound( like when i take out the snorkus ?)

if im just going to put the intake filter...do i need the Maf adapter?
