ok so my drivers side window went down today and wont come back up i thought at first that it was off track but i know now that is not the case. it will try to come back up but wont make it more than an inch, i am thinking the motor is bad but my passenger side does the same thing but only when i try to use the switch on the passengers side if i use the drivers side switch for the passenger side it works fine. so maybe my drivers side switch for my drivers side window is bad as well. i hope i didnt confuse anyone to bad, and hopefully someone can help me.

i had to replace the switchbox in the door panel a while ago because of the same symptoms. Try jumpering the button first to check it. The part was 16$ at a jy and an easy fix.

It could also be a bum window motor, which is a pain. I'd go over all my electrical stuff first to eliminate a bad connection.

yes thank you. i was getting worried i was in the dark with this. ill bet it is the same thing you had. i took my door panel off and took the switch off, plugged it back in without the doorpanel on, and checked it out and it seems to have trouble moving more than one window in the car so i am now sure thats the problem.

Yeah, it sounds like the switch... I just replaced mine about 3 weeks ago after encountering the same symptoms you described. To ensure it wasn't the motor, I jumpered the switch from the rear window to the front to close the window.

how did you jump the switch in. did you shave and splice or is there a more plug and play aproach? and how did you know what was what through all the wires in the pigtail.

You need to disconnect the plug for the front window switch as well as one of the other three working switches (I used the rear passenger). Then jumper the power from the front switch to the working switch and use that switch to close the window.

To make the jumper, get two sets of spade connectors (male & female) and two pieces of wire (I used 14 guage) and crimp the connectors on the ends. Just make sure they don't touch when you insert them.

Hope this helps.
