I recently purchased a 99 Legacy GT sedan. I have a few issues with it. But, this is the one I'd like to take care of soon. My turn signal switch doesn't stay down through any kind of turn.

Now I know most people will say purchase a new one. I'm broke and I know there way a diy thread somewhere on the old interweb where someone refurbished theirs for free. Anyone know what thread I'm talking about????

Sounds like the rocker is broken or dislodged. There are not a lot of parts in the switch. If you take the steering shroud off, it is only held on by 2 or 3 screws and comes out quite easily. Once it is out, a little bit of warm soapy water, some q tips, a can of air, and a soft dry towel will help you out. Some lithium grease on the moving parts and put her back together. For someone with little or no experience, a long and a stubby phillips screw driver, and about an hour should be all you need.
