Hey everybody i have lurked here for awhile and now im coming out the shadows  . Im from the bay area btw. (nice weather) Mileage purchased 143xxx Mileage current 160xxx
Bought a 1998 subaru legacy l sedan almost 2 years ago now. i have compulsively read articles, forums and watched hundreds of youtube videos in order to properly start modding my car. Here is what i have so far. Car color is sapphire blue and will try to get pics up. This is what i have done so far

Suspension
After market struts ( ?name)
brand new tie rods/bearings
brand new little nooks n cranny parts

Wheels
17" black redline racing
Shitty 215/45r 17 tires (really want a good namebrand set)

Brakes
stainless steel brake lines
black painted calipers
rest is stock

transmission
Brand new clutch and components

Engine

2.25custom catback w/magnaflow muffler
2x highflow cats
inferno labs equal length headers(single port :smt007 )
weapon r cai w/ ram air behind headlight
pnp throttlebody
pnp intake mani
pnp intake head ports
grimmspeed phenolic spacer
grimmspeed l/w crank pulley
throttle body coolant bypass
a/c delete mod
paranoidfabrications grounding kit
purolator oil filter
ngk sidegapped vpower spark plugs
ngkwires
98' ej25gt fuel injectors
spectre performance fuel filter
spectre fuel lines
volo vp12 softflash chip ( Yea it f'in works!)
5% tint on back windows

Conclusion: I am planning on getting rotors and pads probably cheap ebcs. I will get suspension upgrades just not sure. After i put the struts on i was real impressed and that has held me out until now. I also like keeping it somewhat sleeper looking so im debating lowering it even though i know i will. I freaking love the 2.2 and am sick of all the naysayers!! Im sure my dyno numbers would be pretty sad but the car is quick as hell! super torquey, i call it Scooter!! i truely feel my car has responded very well to all my mods. I did start of on a good foot though. Brand new bottom end with better seated valves. I also meticously cleaned all vacuum/coolant lines of gunk which made an awesome difference. specially on our old cars! Please feel free to give me suggestions and or ask me questions bout what ive done etc! Glad i could share with yall. later!

A lot of people love the ej22e block with ej25d heads swapped on (better flowing) sounds like you are in the right direction!

Hey man i appreciate the support. If i knew what i was doing when i bought the car i would of gone that route but i am pretty happy with her now. Guy that rebuilt the block had already done some internal work and was really proud and going to use it has his DD. something came up in his world, I could see the desperation in eyes when he told me he would sell it to me for 2000$ i began to try to bargain him down even from that. he looked like he was going to cry! I feel like i got a really good deal. It drives like a top and ive noticed after sitting next to other cars/subarus at stoplights how quiet the engine is. ie hardly any valve clatter, smooth.

I'm in the bay with 95 wagon EJ22E 200K miles mostly use to Tahoe ski trips. It runs like a champ.

...as far as the noise maybe i lucked out. fresher valve springs? i noticed the wagons seem to have bad ticks...really rarely see any of the 90's sedans tho

Dude im hoping tahoe is going to be great this winter! I just got a dui and wont have my license back until April  Its not all bad..keeps mileage lower lol and gives me ample time to tweak on it.

yo dyno- i also remember the grounding kit and more importantly the soft flash reallllly helped quiet things under the hood

yea good looking. If any moderator sees this, will you move it to members rides? not sure how to go about that exactly. I will get some pics up thanks for the support.

dyno-i got the volo vp12 chip (google it they have a website) by far the best bang for buck mod i have done its only 90bux!....No i would never put it in a higher end car but i think for our older ecus it does fine.

A drop will make the car 100x more responsive, best money I ever spent on mine

thanks for the tip. I think springs ill do soon after rotors and pads...I am hesitant with lowering cause the 17's give me some spacing issues. What springs are you running and how much they drop your car?

well, me personally, I drive a '99 Legacy Outback Wagon. I used Legacy GT KYB struts, with Legacy L H&R 2" lowering springs and Legacy Outback top-hats. This took approx. 4" of ride height out of my car, but thats because of how high the Outback sits from the factory.

I paid like $250 for my H&R lowering springs, and they ride fantastic, for a static drop I would recommend to anyone out there.
