Donut Gasket in Exhaust

I have finally figured out my exhaust leak problem between the cat and the midpipe. The problem is that the 2 1/4" donut gasket that fits onto the Random Tech converter is too large to fit into the opening in the midpipe. I tried ordering a 2" gasket from Random Technology which fits into the midpipe perfectly but is too small to fit onto the converter. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a 2 1/4" donut gasket with the midpipe end the same diameter as the 2" gasket?

:cry: this problem has caused me so much grief. The technician at Random Tech has no idea what to do either. He has been searching gasket companies and so far hasn't found anything

anyone who has that cat on any Subaru that's not a WRX or a 2.5 RS should have the same problem. Find someone else that has that cat. Maybe your intermediate pipe is some aftermerket one?

Sounds like you'll need to take the car to an exhaust shop and have them either expand the end of the midpipe or weld on a piece of larger piping.

Alternatively, you could sell me your random tech and get a stromung cat ;)

I know this thread is dead but did you ever find the right size? I have a random tech cat, borla header, and stromung cat back. I need new gaskets from the end of the header back. I have no idea what size I need for the gaskets. Can anyone help me out?

I would think any decent local (not Midas or some other franchise) muffler shop would be willing and able to find the right size and just sell you the gasket for pretty cheap.

Well here's the thing. I want to buy remflex gaskets. I have asked boxer4racing.com if they know but he didnt. I would think someone would know off the top of their head.

Take it to an exhaust shop and get a flex-joint made up to bolt onto the midpipe and the cat. Problem solved.

you need to get the OEM Subaru gasket. This is a common problem, aftermarket companies like Bosal and Walker that make these gaskets use a standard size that fits standard 2" or 2.25" pipe, subaru pipes are a mm or so bigger than the standard measure. Nothing but the OEM Subaru gasket fits right. I keep them in stock since this gasket is bad on all kinds of Subarus. I've contacted Bosal about this a few times and they can't seem to get it right.

Oh goody, I'm about to pick up Borla Knock-off Headers and a Random Tech High Flow Cat. I'm glad it's not going to be plug and play, that would be far too convenient.
