stop lamp light

on my dash is a light that says stop lamp. from what i understand it tells you when one of your brake lights are out. the only time it comes on is when i turn on my lights. then as soon as i hit the brakes it goes out and doesn't come back on until the lights are turned off and back on.

how many brake lights do i have i counted 7. 2 in each tail light and 3 small ones in the light in the window. all are working. why does the light come on.

Maybe you have a short between that system (the brake light system) and the E-Brake system?

I still go for that there's a light out. Put a brick on the brake and check....

i had someone else press the pedal. i am 100% sure they all light up. could it be that one of the bulbs is a different wattage.
