Alright...so after fixing the BD up after the deer incident, as it turns out, i have a small head gasket leak and she's overheating. Since I have to pull the motor again to fix it, I figured it'd be a good time to start shopping for swap options.
My initial thought was an eg33 because yay for 230hp of NA power, and there are a handful of svx's around the area for cheap (bad trannys). I will be doing every bit of work myself seeing as i have some disposable income and all the time in the world, so staring at wiring diagrams til im bugeyed is managable. My only dilemma is emissions. Moving from OBD2 to OBD1 is a no no without hot rod status and even then the rules are a bit cryptic as to what will be needed to successfully pass an etest here in Ontario (Canada).
I know that all the emissions equipment from the 99 must be present on the new engine once complete, but then there's the issue of the test itself with an OBD1 ECU in place. I know in the US, it differs from state to state, but if someone has any idea about the OBD2 testing when it comes to swapped vehicles id greatly appreciate any input. Right now I'm driving a POS 04 Jeep liberty and I hate it...I want my gocart back! Thanks for reading my mini-rant!
