Welcome to the new SL-i, hosted by vBulletin! Yes, it is new, but it’s not finished yet. We’ll be working constantly for the next few weeks to get the forum back to normal (as there were some unavoidable issues associated with the move). Please bear with us, and report any problems in the forum bug thread (https://sl-i.net/FORUM/showthread.php?18867-New-Forum-Bugs!) (click the text to go there).

Big thanks to rkrenicki for doing all of the work to make this possible. What you didn’t see where the multiple behind-the-scenes installs of this new software that it took before everything was finally ironed out. Passwords didn’t work for the longest time, avatars didn’t move, and users didn’t sync up to their own posts. But after a ton of practice, he finally made sure the final move was successful.

There are a ton of things to go over. This post should help you get to know the new forum.

A Generally More Up-To-Date Experience
You’ll notice that we have a lot of new features, but a lot of returning features as well. Many of these features are now more advanced, and some are in a different place now. As time passes, hopefully it will get easier, and the features will finally be used to their potential.

So Many New Settings
Too many to go through, check them out in your profile!

Better Forum Search
Search has been greatly updated. It is now much more thorough and finds more relevant material to the search terms.

Filter Private Messages
You can now filter your PMs for easier searching. Search by user, title, date, or status of the message (read or unread).

Thread Tools -> Show Printable Version
Great for printing out DIYs or other general information to use when you can’t have the computer with you. Organizes a thread into an easy to follow printable document.

Thread Search
In addition to searching the entire forum, you can now search within a specific thread. You can now find information quickly in the most popular threads on SL-i.

Multi-Quote
You can now select multiple posts at once to quote. Just click the little picture of a quote bubble with a plus (+) sign next to it to select it for quoting in your reply. In your reply, all selected posts will be quoted separately.

Still adding to this list, but I’m at work, so check back every once in a while.

rkrenicki's Ninja-edit: Please keep any bug/problem reports in the bug thread located here: https://sl-i.net/FORUM/showthread.php?18867 This thread is to talk about new features, not new problems ;)

Big thanks to rkrenicki. I have a question. I notice in the MR1 and MR2 section that some of the threads have the chassis code or say "Impreza" or what kind of car it is in front of thread title. How do I change my MR1 threads to have the chassis code?

I will be going through at some point and tagging them all, but if you edit your first post, go into "Advanced Edit", you will see a Prefix selection. Just select what chassis you have, and hit save.

I have all of the Legacy chassis codes in there for MR1, but for MR2 I only have Impreza, Forrester, Tribeca, BRZ, and SVX right now. I may add more later on.

You think this is impressive, wait till we are all done. Huge thanks to Rob for helping us get over to our new home. This has been a long time in the making!

Oh, a reminder to everyone. The PM limit was slightly raised to 400 per user. Any PMs that were migrated from the old forum are now marked as "Unread". You can mark them as read in groups of 50 (the default view per page), or put them into custom folders.

Will there be more themes added?

I don't mean to speak for Rob here, but I believe we'll be working on a theme once we do the final upgrade to vB5. That is my understanding. I don't know if there will be more than one theme. It probably depends on how time consuming it is.

The theme that we are currently on, only is coded for vBulletin4 and will not work correctly when we transition to vBulletin5.

The only reason we are on vB4 right now, is that the password migration system does not work with vB5. After we are comfortable that most of the core users have logged in at least once, we will be moving to vB5 and adding a lot of new functions.

I do not want to spend too much time modifying this theme, as it is very short lived, and I would have to do it all over again.

As for multiple themes, it is unlikely that we will have more than one, as modifications would have to be made to and cross checked with them all.

Ok. So amgarrety, Will the next theme be more black like the old one?

We haven't thought about a theme at all beyond what is currently in place while we wait for vB5. I think it would be nice to have a light and dark theme, but that'll be up to the admins.

I quoted Rob because what he said is important. We have modifications at the theme level that would need to be carried over from theme to theme. Having a lot of themes would require a lot of work each time there was even a small edit. I don't think it would be too difficult if we modified a single theme to have a light and dark version, but we'll judge that after we make the final move and see what we are really dealing with.

I think vB5 allows for multiple "Color-sets" for one theme. It is something that we can look into.
