resonator recommendations

So I'm lookin for advice on which resonator to get. Cats are not an option as high flows are more than I want to spend and emissions are of no concern. My current setup on my BD Legacy 2.5 is titanium wrapped UEL headers into both stock cats, from there I have deleted my stock resonator and straight piped it into a freeflow muffler with a 4" tip. Currently the sound is a nice deep rumble, but doesn't open up nearly as much as I would like. I suspect that 15 year old cats is the cause and I want them gone. The other (and of course hesitantly admitted) reason is that the wife's '05 RS is overwhelmingly louder. She has an identical exhaust setup to mine with the exception of me having cats and her having a 24" resonator and no cats. I think the sohc vs the dohc is a partial reason, but I will say that mine has a much deeper rumble. I am lookin to increase my volume while maintaining the rumble (I have no interest in the rasp of straight piping to muffler). What's the best resonator and size of said resonator to do this? I am thinking magnaflow 18", but would a bigger or perhaps a vibrant or flowmaster be better? Also glasspack vs. non?

I've run the 18" magnaflow and liked it. You can tell the difference though between the 2.5 dohc vs sohc exhaust setup. Had a custom setup and I transferred it between cars (98gt to 01rs) the sohc sounds louder in a good way. Could be because the 2.5 sohc have better low end toque.

did you run the 18" with a muffler as well? If so, which muffler did you use and how quiet was it?

i'm running a tsudo midpipe with just a 8" resonator, and its fantastic, I highly recommend. The difference between a cat and a resonator was huge to me, but it may just be that whole placebo affect.

Vibrant makes good units as well and has them in both SS and Mild steel. I like my car with the 18" res prior to my turbo build

The Tsudo catless midpipe w/ a resonator is what i've found works best
