mine used to do that... there was a very big problem with my barings, the front drivers side tire could move side to side about an inch or two

It's probably bearings, but I had the same problem three times.

1st time - Front Passenger Side Half-Shaft, it was slightly bent. Symptom was a slight wobble in the steering.

2nd time - Front Driver's Side Half-Shaft, I had a torn CV boot that lost its grease and I had to have the whole half-shaft replaced. The symptoms were: vibration in steering and an audible clicking sound while turning.

2nd time - Rear Driver's Side bearing, It just wore out. Symptoms were a very loud rumble, especially with weight on the back Driver's side of the car. Also, some vibration.

-whew. Best of luck to you Joe.

the casing that hold the barings in place was shattered... when i made a turn the car would turn a little bit then there would be a big thud and the car would start turnning more... scarry... when i brought it to Subaru they said that i can not drive out of the shop with out repairs, the car was to damaged to be safe ($1200 repiar :-( )

This could be one of many problems, or a combination of problems. A few things to check: tire ballance, tire pressure, warped brake rotors, missing ballance weights on your rear dif., uneven tire tread wear, etc.

let us know what you find.

one of the local autocrossers on lersoc.com actually found this:

The hub had broken inside the bearing and was being held in place by the axle/nut/bearing force. Once the nut was off and I tapped the axle out I found it.

 THE ROOT CAUSE IS MY REAR DRIVER'S TIRE OUT OF SHAPE.
THANKS FOR YOUR OPINION
