Carsponsorship.com??

So I was on cardomain.com and I saw a thing about Carsponsorship.com. They will possibly sponsor your ride or partially. I filled out there APP and submitted it. I then got a reply back saying that it has magically approved and moved to the next level. I see the part where it says that I have to pay $89 to secure the contract. I stopped right there. Then today I get a phone call saying that I have 15 sponsors lined up for me if I join. From body kits to vertical doors. They tell me that the sponsors will pay 80% of the price of the parts but it is on me to install them. Then I have to take pics of the new parts and put it on there web site. So my question is this: IS this site the real deal? IS it worth it? Has any one ever done this?

Some people have, but for the most part it's a scam - most of the people that sign up end up waiting a long time for parts, or end up having to pay up front, and then get "rebates" from the "sponsors".

My 2 Cents: It sounds like a scam--they have to make money some how, and it looks like ripping people off is their game plan. If you want sponsorship, you might be better off talking to more local vendors.

I talked to the place the dynoed my car. I asked them about sponsorship. They said how they do it is you pay $20,000 for them to sponsor you, you pay for the parts (I think) and installs are dirt cheap. Unless I'm building a car that can make me money that's not worth it. That other place could be legit. I seen that add around for 2 years now. If it were a scam I don't think cardomain would have it up on their site. I would write cardomain and ask them about it.

It's not a scam - it's the same as rebates.

Perfectly legal, but there are a multitude of terms and conditions to negotiate. It's like how soda companies will advertise competitions with "no purchase necessary" - but if you don't buy their bottles, you have to mail them a letter requesting an entry.

Sure, you don't buy a soda, but you still pay for postage.

That is what the guy told me. That it is up to me to get into car shows. And that install are on me. And I get a 80% discount. First I have to pay$89. I am not sure I want to commit to something like this that is why I asked.

i investigated this as well...i'll clean it up a bit.

Think Costco.....You pay a memebership fee (the $89 annum) and you recieve parts at a discount from vendors who have jumped on board with the company. All they require is that you put your car in some public forum so that ppl can dig your ride and hopefully buy from the same company.

If you auto-x at local SCCA events then you're filling the requirement of showing your car. It doesn't necessarily have to be car shows.

If you pay $89 and get a 40% discount on a $1000 muffler you've already made your money back and received a killer deal.....sounds to good to be true, but for the small % of ppl who do this, after market co's can afford to give out killer discounts...plus, I'm sure there are tax exemptions that make it a no brainer for them.

I spoke to a woman on the phone for almost an hour trying to decide if this was legit and finally let down my guard and accepted it was. As soon as I get into the mood to buy more expensive mods, I'm definitely going to sign up.

Remember, you're essentially just acting as a rep for the companies. Good times!
