Hey i just bought a 1997 Legacy GT and very glad I found this site. Been looking through it every day for the past week lol. As soon as I sell my old car im hoping to buy underdrive pulley, short shifter and a full exhaust set up. Should i go 2.25" or 2.5"? Also hoping to paint the bottom side skirts red to really clean up the look of the car. Heres some pics.

Welcome to SLi
If you go with an exhaust I would not recommend anything larger than 2.25" piping unless you have a turbo. Assuming the engine is still stock, stay with 2.25" or else you will hurt performance rather than increase it.
I like the red on red look with the OutBack bumper and grille.

I like the OB bumper on a GT, its original, but i thought basically all GT's came with a scoop

unless the car was in a fender bender and the stock bumper and hood were done for were replaced with what he has now.
nice car btw.

I think it will even out when he color matches the rest of the stock trim

It was in a minor fender bender that cracked the front bumper and dented the hood a bit, cheaper to buy used parts off an outback than fixing the old ones. i'll post some pictures when i paint the bottoms, should be pretty soon

I'm digging the outback bumper :)
I need to get me one of those  (Lemanschamp's computer is down, I really need to send him money via snailmail, so I'm still in limbo about the bumper).
Anyways, welcome to the site. I would also say 2.25" piping, and I would also stray away from the underdrive pulley, you don't want to run out of power steering or lower the already terrible headlights' instensity. Just go lightweight, stock size.
