I recently discovered my '96 has factory keyless entry after finding a key fob hidden in the seat. After I got it plugged in and a new battery in the fob, it worked perfect. However, I've been reading that it's supposed to have a chirp with the lock/unlock, and I can't figure out how to get it to chirp. Lights flash with lock/unlock, but no chirp. Any ideas?

Usually there's a setting to change.

Oddly, Cars101 doesn't seem to have how to do it in here.

Yeah, some cars do, some dont. I do have a little chirp thingy in the engine bay though. It just might be that you need to have the box/alarm bit installed and wired.

All cars had the option for chirping and for not chirping. Press and hold both the unlock and lock button at the same time until it chirps. And repeat if you want it to go back to silent.

I'd read about holding the lock and unlock buttons to activate/deactivate silent mode, but mine just flashes the lights like i turned the hazards on when I hold the buttons on my fob. Something must be disconnected somewhere then.
