Is it still considered a legacy at that point? I'm selling my 01 legacy but i love this group of people so id like to be able to ask questions and see things without signing up anywhere else.

Yes, all Outbacks are just a trim level of Legacy. So are Bajas!

Im so excited to have this new one. its the blue with silver trim, with the seven spoke rims. i plan to paint them black, then lift the car an inch or two, then start looking for a bigger roof spoiler.

Mmmmm, not technically. I don't remember what year it was (05, 08, 10?), but they un-merged the Outback name from the Legacy lineup at some point. The Baja was also sold as a separate model.

I mean, mechanically, they're almost identical, aside from strut length, subframe spacers, and some body cladding.

Actually, technically they are the same.

Just because Subaru stopped putting a "Legacy" badge on Outbacks in the US in 2000, and in other countries in 2003, does not mean that the chassis is any different.

The Outback still has the same "B" chassis code, still has the same service manual, and still shares over 90% of the same parts as the Legacy.

It is the exact same thing that they did with the XV Crosstrek. It is an Impreza with longer struts and spacers. It may not say "Impreza" on any badge, but it is still a GV chassis.

Yes, however you talked about trim levels, not chassis codes. In the US, the Outback is not considered a Legacy trim, despite it sharing the same chassis (which is what I already said).

It's semantics, really.
