Ok so now on to what I have done in the past 4 months.
Removed outback emblem from grille
Scrapped out the awd stickers in the rear windows
Put a snowboarding team(my employer) sticker in the back window

Also on the 2 week anniversary of getting the car the crankshaft pulley decided to work its way loose and
so my father and I ended up towing it on the highway at 10 pm in the snow with me not having lights heat or wipers.
Come to find out that the bolt was just loose and came off. But then it threw off the timing belt so that had to be fixed.
Spent $700 in the first 2 weeks of owning it.

Another thing is I have quite a few questions as that I am a new first time subaru owner. All suggestions tips or any advice is helpful
Will 17" rims fit without rubbing when turning?
Heard good and bad from making the hood scoop functional. Whats the ups and downs?

I had 17x7.5 wheels with an offset of +45 on my 98 wagon. It only rubbed in the back when it was loaded down. That was on stock wrx suspension. The tire size will make a difference too. If you look at the link in my signature it will show some pics of that set up. I liked it. As for making the scoop functional, it will let water drip down on the knock sensor. I personally wouldn't do it.

I run stock 06 WRX wheels on my car, lowered by about 5" over stock. I have no rubbing at all with the stock rex tire size.. I wanna say 235/45/17?? I have zero rubbing at all. And I drive the shit outta my car. My hood scoop is functional, but, it blows over my intercooler :P If you live in a hot climate, you will get a little more air circulation under the hood, but you will also get more dust and rain and whatnot. It really makes no difference to open it up unless you are running a turbo

Hope to see you around!

Oh, I can also tell you, just stock WRX suspension makes a huge difference in how good the car feels, Just be ready to replace front CV boots frequently. When you lower the outback, the front axles are too long and it makes the boots rub themselves together due to the odd angle. You could always get the shorter axles from an L wagon/gt or impreza NON wrx (unless its a wagon)

Something small but last night i remembered how cold my toes always get driving to and back from ski hills. So I pulled the vent covers off on the floor on the drivers side and swapped it with the one from the passenger side. For some reason them seem to at my ankles all the time but not anymore.

I always thought the heat in these weren't as good as my other cars. My saturn pretty much cooked me.

You should get on Nasioc if you aren't already. You could probably score some wrx struts and springs over there for cheap.

Wow, My car blows 160@the vents. Plenty hot enough in the winter and in the summer she blows 42* at the vent. After the massive cabin reaches temp, I usually have to turn the fan on low to keep from cooking or freezing. For a lots of glass wagon, I have never had any issues with climate.

I just found some struts on cl for $50 from a 2007 forester x. I was wondering if anybody knew if these would fit my car without me having to replace the cv joints often.

I believe forester struts will lift the car.

Alright Me and a friend finally made a trip to the local junk yard to just to look around and see what they had. My friend has a '97 Jetta pretty clean car just slight modifications. Found him a set of hella tail lights for $15 a piece retail for $80. I came out with a wood trim piece for around the gear selector and a good steering wheel with out the airbag for $10. Now the question is what is the best way to take the air bag off the wheel I have now and put it on the new one? Also what years and models of grills will fit my car that I should keep an eye out for?

PegTheBlueSubaru

Also my headlights are awful. Will a one piece headlights fit my car I saw a couple of them there?

Dunno about the wheel and airbag, but as far as I know all the headlights are interchangeable. I think the only difference is obviously that they're 1 piece vs 2 piece.

Thanks. I asked a friend and he said the best way to do the air bag is to just disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and it SHOULDNT go off but i think ill do a little more research before i just jump right into that.

Disconnect the battery. Let the car sit for 15 min. Torx bit to take the two bag bolts out. Easy Peasy

As for the headlights, the one piece and the 2 piece headlights are equally pitiful in terms of light output. I'd save up for some jdm projectors and hids if possible, truly is a night and day difference.

Im really not looking to drop $200 on new jdm lights. If i can pick up a pair of oem 1 piece for $15 from the yard id rather do that.

After you disconnect the battery pump the brakes a couple times to make sure you drain all the power out. Just to be safe

Had another thought come to mind today. I was thinking about getting the windows tinted. The law is 50% but what do most people on here have?

Register on mnsubaru.com, call morries subaru in Minnetonka, tell them you are an mnsubaru.com member. They will give you a discount on parts and service.

I would call morries and check if they carry it.

Alright had a big weekend. Made a trip to the junk yard to buy some much needed parts. Bought some 1 piece headlights, rear wagon spoiler, rear cup holder and wood trim for window switches. Had all but the spoiler installed that day. car looks so much better than before. those 2 piece headlights were awful couldnt see anything and the headlight stuck out about half inch from the blinker and just looked like sh!t. The 1 pieces cleaned up super nice and look awesome. here are some pics from old to new 349350351352
Going to replace my steering wheel tomorrow with another oem one. mine is just all torn up. Also since last post my wiring harness for my stereo came in and installed that. works awesome. cant figure out why the dvd player wont work. There is the park brake relay on the wiring and the dvd player will play the audio from the movie but wont show the video. not sure why that is. Also started peeling off my trim just below the window so i can plasti dip that this weekend. Also looking for a cheap place to tint my windows. Also friend from class just bought the actual spray gun for plasti dip so i'm thinking about spraying the bottom sticker on my car from tan to black. What do you guys think?

They're jdm taillights. You can get them with clear bottoms or smoked bottoms. Unfortunately, they're a bit pricey, like ~$300ish for taillights and center garnish

Alright I know it's been a very long time since i've posted here. done quite a few upgrades.

Installed a Pioneer Avh-p4000dvd headunit and love it!782
Bought a pair of MTX Road thunder 8" subs and amp for $40 love em.783
found all the wood trim I need at junkyard.
Bought a L.L. Bean edition steering wheel. junkyard 784
Found some good condition leather seats out of a 30th anniversary. Junkyard 785786
Replaced the sun cracked window trim. Junkyard
Bought some bbs montreal's off CL. Picked up at night and were plasti dipped. they are cracked and dented

Things i've fixed or f*cked up

Finally found a good hiding place for the amp.
Tried to install headed mirrors and broke the driver side vent.
Swapped seat belts
Replaced alternator.

Major problem

She wouldn't start for 2 days and couldn't figure out why. Charged battery. didn't fix it. Rewired battery to starter cable. didn't fix it. Finally looked in the fuse box and found that the previous owner blew the fuseable link, took speaker wire and just wrapped it around the connectors and the cables got loose and that's why it wouldn't start. First went to the dealership and picked up a new fusible link $20. Then went to the junkyard to get a new alternator (bearings going on old one) and just grabbed a couple more fusible links and they just gave them to me. Replaced that it started right up.

Things I need to get done before winter.
Make custom sub boxes like theses but in a wagon https://sl-i.net/FORUM/showthread.php?2100-DIY-Custom-fiberglass-sub-woofer-box-in-a-BD&highlight=fiberglass+box
Tint all 7 windows thinking 27% in the fronts and 15% other 5 windows. (looking for opinions on how dark to go)
Fabricate a new exhaust with a porter muffler and remove rattling heat shield.
Mount some sort of ski rack to the back of the rear driver side seat so skis aren't sliding around.
