Ok so i was reading on wiki and other sites sohc ej251 have 165hp, where is the manuals have soch ej252 and rated only at 156 hp. Whats the 9hp differnece between the auto n manual?

The EJ 252 has the older CA emissions hardware, different throttlebody, IAC, Front O2 sensor and the computer to support it. I think it was only used in the 3rd gen Legacy 5MT.

MAP sensor is in a different location too.
I'm not so sure that it actually has less power, 156 &165 are an easy typo. Never seen that number anywhere other than the wiki.

I think it's just a typo.
The EJ25D that was unveiled on the limited production '96 Legacy GT/Outback 4EATs was the only EJ25 that was under 165HP, AFAIK (155HP, ran on premium fuel). In '97, they released the EJ25D with 165HP and it ran on regular fuel.
